I wonder if there are differences in these TCU codeboxes. I imagine there are, which might explain why some of us experience clutch dumps, like I do. What I’ve observed is that in manual mode, on any setting, downshifting works as it should from 4th to 3rd gear. Beyond that, I just let it downshift on its own, and I experience ZERO jerks. It’s smooth as butter.
Also, I wonder if a reflash would help. I wouldn’t mind paying again for a reflash to see if it would address the issue. XHP seems to have their share of problems as well, so it’s a mix of good and bad. It’s interesting that no company has produced an actual TCU tune. Correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t the TCU from BMW unlocked, allowing tuners to create a genuine transmission tune? Maybe kubax86 could inform us if there are different versions of codeboxes. I would imagine so since the outcome isn’t identical for everyone. -Ro |

I understood now; XHP appears to offer user-configurable tunes. I wasn’t previously aware they provided custom tunes. If they do, then why isn’t everyone opting for that? From the ratings I’ve seen on their threads, there still seem to be issues.

I guess that most people do not want to pay ~ $600 for xhp and then another $600 for a custom map when the value of custom mapping the TCU has not really been established. People who want to go as fast as possible are happy with xhp stage3, i use if myself and don't have any complaints about it. If you want faster than stock but without any harsh or jerky shifts you can use stage 2. |

Might be nice to have these options when doing a transmission tune (at least for xDrive) - is something like that possible?
D1/S1 = CS Transmission Tune (but in the CS D2/D3 configuration) D2/S2= OEM Transmission Tune (but in the OEM D3/S3 configuration) D3/S3 = CS Transmission Tune (in the CS D3/S3 configuration) |

Does it bother anyone else in D3 and Engine in Sport + how long it holds the RPMs at a real high RPM for what I'd consider quite a long time when I'd argue it could shift up sooner?
