BMW customer relations (not Genius) says my car is at the Galveston VPC and that it shows "Work order started". I asked her if that means the parts are there and that they have started to repair it, or if that's just the first step and it may or may not mean the parts are there. She didn't know.

Anyone know if achieving "work order started" stage means anything other than it's been received at the VPC?

I just think it means you’re in the queue now for the parts. Another user made a post saying he got more context from a BMW Genius saying that current turnaround times to resolve stop sales (at least on the RAM issue) is 6.5 weeks “from when a work order starts” and that will last into 2023.

I’d love more context as well but my best bet is that it means you’re now higher on the waitlist to receive a part for whatever stop sale you have going on, and that until a work order starts you’re not even on the queue.

It can mean all sorts of things. For example, if you ordered any port installed options or even all weather mats that shows as a work order. Genius should be able to tell you what the work order is with a couple of clicks. Some reps are better than others I have found.

It's for the RAM and camera stop sales

Gave Genius a call and a work order has started for my car as well. The guy I spoke to seemed competent. He said a work order can be anything. It could be that they are going to work on the stop sale or when they assign it to a carrier (to have it delivered to the dealership). Basically if they are going to touch your car for anything, they create a work order. The work order can be completed the same day or it can take multiple days. I'm still estimated to have my car delivered to the dealership on the 15th, but I was told a carrier has not been assigned yet therefore the work order must be for the RAM.

Thanks. I was told I was assigned to a carrier for the 14th, but that's just tentative. The two stop sales must be released first.

Looks like we're in the same boat. Unfortunately when my car gets delivered to the dealership I'll be out of town. Headed to Austin.

And I'll be in Vegas! I'm skeptical it will really leave the VPC on the 14th. There is someone who posted in another thread that had a delivery date of Oct 11 to his dealership but still has stop sale(s). His car is still at the VPC. He was told those dates are placeholders.

We'll see.
