New regulation, required by some insurance companies, as it prevents throwing stones/debris to windshield on the cars behind. It seems like an afterthought design on G80 M3, if BMW would just widen the rear fender a bit more to cover wider rear wheels.

Did anyone else hear Joe Achilles say it redlines at 7200 rpm, "a thousand rpm higher" than the S55???
Is he okay!?

Who knows...more of personal surprise that I also "missed it" in these pictures.

I actually use that button a lot: I normally drive with it off and do my own rev-matching, but if I'm having a bad day on the track or am coming up on something out on the road that I know is going to tax my sloppy heel-toe technique, it's right there when I need it. For the sake of comparison: going into iDrive makes it a really clumsy process...but as I pointed out before, I'm pretty sure the MT model was tacked on as an afterthought. This (certainly the G20 platform in general) was originally designed around the automatic. Quote:

Another video with a different youtuber said the same thing so it must be a line BMW is feeding them and something got lost in translation because it's down 400 rpm not up a 1000.

So will this car have the M5 AWD system as standard or have the option for RWD only as well? I'm curious whether the quoted 3800-3900 lb curb weight in the specs is with the AWD system or not.

At what point will BMW push the pause button on this? These cars keep getting longer, wider, heavier, and more powerful. There needs to be a limit.

I am struggling hard between G87 M2, Supra GRMN (if it gets S58 + DCT) and waiting in line for a GT4 PDK... However, the S58 engine will be faster in a straight line due to the low end torque than any Porsche twice as expensive. |

xlover thank you. Had missed the official press release. Bimmerpost should put the MSRP up on the front page.

That leaves the M2, Giulia QF, and Supra as the only more reasonably priced "premium" fun cars. If only Porsche would produce a smaller version of the Panamera and price it like an A7/CLS...That would be the perfect car for me. The 00s were the good old days. If you wanted a fun coupe BMW had the E82 1-series and E92 3-series. If you needed 4 doors and more luxury you had the E90 and E60. The E70 was the perfect family crossover that was engaging to drive at any speed. Even with the base engines these cars felt engineered in a league of their own. The 987 Boxster and 997 911 weren't unreasonably expensive either...

BMW335iOn18s I thought S55 redlined at 6250, no?
Edit: upon closer look, on M3CS, it redlines at 7600.

Silly that a turbo 4 costs that much when you can get a BMW turbo 4 for half as much....but i hear that China sales / new buyers means that model is around to stay. "8-speed M Steptronic automatic transmission with Drivelogic: Three automatic and three manual modes are available – comfort oriented, sporty and track focused Manual mode downshifts to lowest gear possible by pulling the left steering wheel paddle while pressing down on the throttle" RIP DCT....and now it seems that Porsche will be one of the few offering a true dual clutch transmission.... The transmission is the M8HP76, I wonder how this performs after the german magic, I would personally prefer a DCT, but i thought I would hate the ZF8 but have grown to like it...anyone have any insight into how the trans stacks up vs F8x DCT? |
