Must have Specs on your M3
Hi so my dealer just told me I have an allocation for delivery May/June.
I have a prelim spec in mind, I would to love to hear from people that owned the car what they feel is a must have and wish they added. [IMG][/IMG] |

I don't think there are any "must haves" or "absolute waste options". Some people aren't willing to live with out all the cameras, and others really hate the look of the camera dot on the nose. Base vs. Carbon seats is a discussion that will never end from either side. M Drive Pro is a must have for many, and a "I'll never use it" for many. Etc..
Looks like a great spec as it stands. |

The main thing about ordering your car, is getting exactly what you want, and not telling yourself, "oh, I'll get it later," because everything on the flip side, is twice as much. If you want the carbon buckets, get them for the $3,800. they cost $22,000 at the parts counter. Same thing with the laser lights. They're $7,300 later. Carbon fiber exterior, $4,700, well it's $11,250 if you don't order it with the car.
I clicked every box except carbon buckets and carbon exterior package. I went to recheck carbon exterior package, and my car went into 150 status that morning, and I missed out. And I've spent twice as much money, getting everting after the fact. The wireless charger in all cars, is junk. BMW is no exception. It gets the phone extremely hot and chargers like 5% an hour. I'm glad it was deleted for a short time when I ordered my car. I probably could have done without the m driver package. It's really just $2,500 to raise the top speed from 155 to 180. You get a free track day, but I'll probably never find the time to use it.

My opinion:
Laser Lights (car doesn't look right without them) Exec Package (I only use HUD) Full Leather (I don't have this. The interior is filled with plastic especially on the doors without and feels cheap) Parking Assistance (for the 360 camera) Interior Carbon Fiber (so you get the paddle shifters) |

Everyone is going to have different opinions on options.
Personally, i feel Laser lights and Carbon fiber interior trim are the musts. |

DO NOT GET THE WIRELESS CHARGING. I stopped using it after the first month or so. Charges extremely slow and overheats my phone. So much better/faster with a wired charger.

Chiming with Limegrntaln, I'd definitely second the idea of spec'ing what you ideally want, or at least as much as the budget allows, upfront. Here in the UK, we have different option configurations to you guys; but even without ticking any of the additional boxes, the G80 comes pretty fully loaded as it is (on both sides of the Pond, I gather). For my part, I was on a pretty tight budget when putting in my order. However, I still had some 'non-negotiables': Tanzanite and xdrive. Beyond that, I went back and forth over whether to spec the exterior carbon styling; but the more I saw examples of it--and the more I contemplated how expensive and potentially complicated it would be to try and add all those trims later on at the mercy of the aftermarket--the more it turned from being one of my 'indulgent' extras to something quite essential! Especially on the front, with those carbon intakes, it makes all the difference, even on dark colours.
Other options, of course, like the Driver's Package, seemed out of the question to me: I'm really not going to be a track regular, so the cost was unjustifiable whichever way I looked at it. Ditto the carbon bucket seats, which just weren't for me from an aesthetic perspective nor justifiable from a practical one. Still, all that said, I wanted to spec as much as could on this order. For I suspect this car is going to be a keeper. We're running out of time here in the UK before we'll be strong-armed off the road and into soulless EVs. So, this really was a chance to think not about a car I'm expecting to replace in 2-3 years' time, but one that I'll probably want to cling on to! D

Shadow line lights , parking distance control pkg , and without a doubt the icon laser lights. Carbon buckets were a must for me but I've sat in the regular seats and they are comfy as shit. Also make sure the car comes with a steering wheel , important spec ! |

I have essentially the same options on order in my Dravit Gray / Tartufo convertible. I did not opt for the M Drive Professional as the 'vert will be a grand tourer with no track time, save for maybe a tourist drive day (and not pushing it) at the Ring as mine is a military sales order in Germany. I have the neck warmers spec'ed, but that is a chassis specific option.

CONGRATS!!!
Must haves for me: Fiona Red Full Leather - I had a red interior in my F30 328i and thats what I miss the most about it, as nice as my F80 interior was. Ventilated Seats - My butt gets hot Executive Package - simply for the HUD which I use all the time

For me the Carbon buckets were a must have for me. Just look so sexy. I also opted for the interior and exterior carbon packages. Nothing like Oem carbon fit and finish. I did not want any of the exec or other packages. I plan to keep this car long term. Its a BMW so the less that can go wrong the better lol. Only thing I would of added was the laser lights but on a 21 they were not a stand alone option. Could only be had in the exec package. But I think the shadowline ones on dravit look very stealthy. Almost looks like they're tinted.

Only must have to me is laser lights. I could live without the carbon bucket seats, source aftermarket cf, and live without cameras or hud/gesture control. But those laser lights I cannot justify not having.

For me:
Carbon fiber interior trim (the regular silver looks cheap) Laser lights (no brainer for $1k) Shadowline lights ($300 and will make the car look much meaner) Ventilated seats ($350 - not doing carbon buckets and I am in a hot climate so another no brainer) Red brake calipers (free - personal preference in color) This all my M3 (RWD comp) will be spec'd with ($2,600 total in options). Need to make it affordable and the options I am not choosing I do not feel like I am missing out. |

THIS!!!!!!!!! Even though I have sang amazing praises for the RWD; the X is just an unbelievable tool to have to create a true all around performer. And since you have the build option; get it.
