Regarding your question, for me X5M, M5 or M340i in that order and depending on what you want from it. Used M5's are the best deals right now IMO, but not sure why you are worried about your rate lock expiring. Much less expensive to get what you want even if rates move slightly higher vs buying something and selling it quickly because it isn't what you want. Ask me how I know.

Yep. I test drove the M8 comp when it came out. Could not believe how cramped it was compared to my F80. That's why I never got the M8.
