If you were approved for financing for one car..?

If I have a rate lock until the end of January can I go buy a different bmw at a different dealer without having to run my credit again before the lock ends?

I'm seriously considering getting an m850 instead of the m4 because of how long it's taking at the port and that my rate lock ends

Then you would have to change your screenname. Are you sure the lock ends? West coast is 120 days, east coast is 90.

Got an M850i as a loaner for a week. HATED it. Motor is wonderful, interior is claustrophobic and ridiculous for a car that size. Definitely a GT car focused on luxury.

It is a german Camaro.

Regarding your question, for me X5M, M5 or M340i in that order and depending on what you want from it. Used M5's are the best deals right now IMO, but not sure why you are worried about your rate lock expiring. Much less expensive to get what you want even if rates move slightly higher vs buying something and selling it quickly because it isn't what you want. Ask me how I know.

They extended the dates a few months ago to 90 and 120. Unless they changed it back, which doesn't make sense, because cars are still taking longer and longer to get to the destination ports. I would double check on the dates.

Rate locks are extended for 90 days in east coast. You can confirm that with your SA or by calling BMW genius.

Did your dealer give you an M850 loaner??? I usually get something closer to an X3 or 320.

I got an X1 as a loaner.

That made me really appreciate just how good the current 3 series is.

I've driven the M850ix, the 840i and the M8. Wonderful cars, truly. And when I say driven, I mean like borrowed for the day or two.

But when you measure comfort, interior, overall performance and price, heck even if you leave out price, the M4 is still a superior car.

Seriously, if I could buy a new M8 for the price of my M4, knowing what I know now, I'd still buy the M4.

I liked the 840 convertible I drove but your right the back seat is horrible and the car feels cramped. I kept feeling like j was gonna hit my head on the visor when the roof was down. But man did I love every second of driving it.

Oh and the 840 has a seatbelt butler and headed arm rests which is nice

The 8 series interior is useless. i drove a Gran Coupe and was shocked to find it even smaller and more claustrophobic than a base 1 series. Complete waste IMO.

Get a G80.

Have you driven an M850i? I drove the 'vert and while the vert is fun, it is a BIG HEAVY car. Granted, the vert adds about 300lbs, but it still felt big and doesn't have the same responsiveness as an M3/4 or M8 for that matter. Super nice cruiser though.

Yea I have and it's what made me love bmws again and make me want to get an m4 vert. I had 840i vert and I loved it in terms of power and user experience. The only problem was it was compact. I liked the rear wheel steering and presence of the car though

I figured if I'm going to spend 90k though I'd much rather get a true M car for that money plus the 200 more hp doesn't hurt…

Can confirm it’s true. I emailed my CA and he got back to me confirming it’s 90 days currently. Not sure when it started but last time I spoke to him it was 60 days so it must have been recently. I’m also in the Midwest.

I didn't ask but in December the dealer was telling me 60 days when I asked, of course, does not mean that was correct. So perhaps January 4th?
