First off--- I hate Mani.

2nd: Pretty much as expected with impromptu races. The X drive is racing for dummies

Man the S58 is just so incredible. I was driving my V10 R8 around with its sonorous brilliance and then the next day I went back to the G80 and honestly I am damn fucking proud to have this car in my garage (actually had 2 LOL).

I spent a day back in the fall driving a Z06, a 458, a 4C, a Huracan, and a Shelby on back roads. It was a blast, and you'd think hopping back in my M5C would be a let down, but it was quite the opposite. Different car than the G80, but it helped me appreciate how incredible it is, and why I keep buying BMWs. I just can't quit these engines.

@Vic55 you think I'm missing out on having only RWD? Living in Southern NH, I have to be honest that just rocking the stock 825m wheels with sottozero 3 tires, I've had no issues in the snow…whatsoever….I'm just worried as tunes come out that I'll be missing out.

I think the only thing I've avoided thus far is being out when I know we are getting a bunch of snow due to grown clearance, but other than that, I've had nothing but love for my RWD comp…just can't help but wonder if I should consider doing what you did and order a AWD and trade the RWD, since I didn't get the RWD for the manual; just because I wanted this car as soon as it came out.

Welcome your thoughts and anyone else's.

funny you compared the R8 V10 because my brother in law just bought one literally 2 days ago and he took me for a ride yesterday and did a couple of pulls. It sounds awesome with an aftermarket exhaust but from a "feeling" standpoint it didn't feel that fast even with me sitting in the passenger seat. I don't know if it's because it's just way too refined or maybe I had higher expectations or maybe I got used to turbo torque which feels like a kick in the gutts?

Sick car for sure but I think I lost my love for high revving engines after owning a couple of turbocharged cars.

I have had both. Drove the RWD G80 for 8k miles. now Xdrive G82 for 3k miles. Xdrive is the way to go, effectively puts power down all the time no need to stress about weather or temperature.

I wouldn't say your missing out. I'd say you just need to be a better driver to get full performance from the RWD without ending up on a YouTube Fail video. Regarding the snow, I have awd but hope to never drive it in the snow. Performance cars like the M3, Lamborghini, Porsche, etc are awd for maximizing performance. No way the engineers had winter weather driving in mind with the awd. Can you imagine a Tesla Plaid in RWD.

That's what I'm thinking; the comment about snow is because it's applicable to where I live and drive, but I know and agree that it's about putting power down….figure if I order a new M3C soon I'll get good trade so long as I get the same deal as before

I test drove a RWD G80 M3C on clean dry roads. It really didn't take much for the rear wheels to let go. I was on it for sure but definitely not pushing close to it's limits for sure. It actually surprised me a bit. And, it was the reason I ordered the car, but I ordered AWD with the idea I can really get into it and stay hooked up. My two cents 🪙🪙

I also have a R8 V10 (in a manual) and I am always impressed when I get back into my S58 X3M.

Really an incredible drivetrain!

I have been driving around in RWD a lot recently in my AWD G8x. I put the M traction control on 4 or 5 and power slide all over the place. I love how easy the back end swings out.
When I want to put the power down I just go into 4WD sport. It is truly the best of both worlds.

that internal piped in sounds is horrible. Interesting car, the shifts are definitely slush box and you can hear it. Seems the edge is gone, the last m3 dead w the F80.

Have you driven it?
People complain about the cabin sound, but it's not that bad in my opinion. I've never driven the F80, so I can't compare DCT to the new ZF in my G80.

I wonder what color the xDrive M3 was in. And needless to say, the AWD cars are much quicker variants & this is what we all knew was coming.

Welcome your thoughts and anyone else's.
I have posted my thoughts in a few threads since Sept when I got the X--- Here is a quick summary based on my ownership via regular roads in a very very good climate locale.

1. RWD is just fine in non inclement weather states
2. If you are into digs and quick rips without wanting a single worry- then the X is the way
3. rolling races that are not premediated would not benefit the rwd as its just too close with the 100kg gain in weight and ever so slight loss in axle drap. Its just not material.
4. The X is 100% the car to get if you are modding with tunes, fuel, and hardware.

I personally had zero issues with the RWD where I live and would have kept it happily if I didnt get the allocation at msrp with AR car. But in NH you would probably be better with the X as the tires dont warm up and your weather is different. The RWD is so great though and BMW did an incredible job with it out of the box. I do feel they upped the game with the X though and real wheel bias while maintaining that great steering feel and chassis compression and rebound.

Does he have the 600 hp car or the non Performance. The V10 will never feel like a tq beast because it doesnt have that type of engine. The tq curve which creates that feel is not flat like the G80 or my F93. Its truly a 5k rpm engine and above and I rip that fucker anytime I can. I did the Quicksilver exhaust and its that much better. Its not a daily driver though and misses the extra tech that other cars have like my G80 and dare i say- the Tesla Plaid (yeah I got one).

Owning one of the last 600 plus hp normally aspirated engines is a pleasure.

I don't know if it's because it's just way too refined or maybe I had higher expectations or maybe I got used to turbo torque which feels like a kick in the gutts?

Sick car for sure but I think I lost my love for high revving engines after owning a couple of turbocharged cars.

You need to send the Audi to Underground Perf for some Turbo action my friend😳. Just saying
