BMW Canada….

Learned something today - It appears the 4year/80,000Km warranty / no charge scheduled maint is over for 2022 vehicles.

I personally was expecting that, but was completely unaware.

https://www.bmw.ca/en/topics/owners/...ed-maintenance

I have warranty out to Feb 2026 on an X3 M40i and none on an X6M…

But for the first time in a long time - a BMW will not be an almost given replacement.

Anyone else consider this a reason to bail on the brand.

So they ripped a year off of it now huh. Only 3 years and not 4 any more. That is a substantial change for sure.
Many will not even know they lost a year now. Glad my 7 years is in writing.
Why does everything always get worse not better?
4 years was a nice touch I felt to my purchase. Seems wrong some 2022's got 4 years and other only 3 years. What a rip off!
I bought the extra 3 years to bring to 7 bumper to bumper.

Certainly will have a bit of an impact for some of us…Probably been pending for a while…reasons likely many but the top being corporate less for more $$$

I bought a new 2019 in Feb 20 and extended the warranty by 2…glad I did now… Left over 21s would be attractive right now..

I just went back and looked and it's even worse than I thought at first. The warranty is now only 2 years standard. I got 4 years with my car. Then I paid for the extra 3 years of warranty and scheduled maintenance. So I have a total of 7 years for warranty and maintenance.
Now you get only 2 years of warranty. WTF is that about ???
I've got essentially no bills with this car for 7 years. Unless I break it.

Not sure on the laws in Canada, but down in the states the min warranty time is 3 years. I have noticed, when I bought my 2021, that the base warranty was 4yrs/50k miles but the maint dropped to 3/36. That's a money saving maneuver and opportunity to sell the ultimate care plus.

My 2018 only had 3 years of maintenance. Three years has existed for quite a while. And maintenance doesn’t cover brakes any more.

In Canada it was 4 Years until the 2022 came out. The warranty is 4 years.

Interesting. my 2015 had 4 years of maintenance and it covered brakes and wipers. now you need to buy the ultimate care + for those consumables. I guess the change happened in 2017.

I believe this refers to any repairs done on your vehicle and the type of warranty on those repairs. For example, if a water pump is replaced on your car, the warranty for parts and labour will be for two years from the date of repair taking place. This is independent of the new car warranty.

New vehicle warranty is 4 years / 80,000 kms.
No charge scheduled maintenance is 3 years / 60,000 kms.
Parts & labour warranty is 2 years.

The no charge scheduled maintenance was reduced from 4 years / 80,000 to 3 years / 60,000.

For me it wouldn’t likely change my mind on choosing another BMW, but it would likely make me consider changing the term of my lease (3 vs. 4 years)

Ah ha ! That's what that was. Thanks for explaining that. Makes sense now.

.....

So if Parts & labour warranty is 2 years, but the entire warranty is 4 years does it mean that for those remaining 2 years you're getting warranty but paying for it yourself ?

No. It means that replacement parts have a 2 year warranty from the date installed or 4 years from date of vehicle delivery which ever comes last.

If they replace a part 1 day before the 4 years warranty expire, that part and only that part will have a 2 years warranty.

If you pay for a part and labour at year 5, that part it will be warranty for 2 years.
