Love that track, it's local to me.

Odd comparison. Bored presenter with access to two totally different cars and an empty track. Great time by the M3, that is seriously quick.

Love watching Steve Sutcliffe driving - such a clean, pure (and quick) driving style. Other youtubers, especially here in NA, will rather show you countless slomos of a drifting car.

I mean....yes, power to weight matters, but so does gearing, braking, etc.

Look at the difference in 0-60 times. Despite a better power to weight ratio, the writing was already on the wall with the Caterham 0-60(62?) being 4.8 vs the BMW's 3.5.

A 0-60 time < 0.5s apart would be a closer comparison IMO, but in the video you can see by the 2nd corner the BMW is already able to pull away hard.

0-60 isn't everything, but in this case it's a pretty significant difference IMO. The 420 - or even 620 - would be a better match for the top tier M3.

Kind of a silly comparison when there are 2 faster versions of the caterham available and you are using the top of the line M3….

To be honest, I don't think the times matter. There are faster Caterham's. But if any track day enthusiast turned up and was offered to choose a car out of those two for the day? You'd choose the slower Caterham and have a much bigger smile on your face. For starters that M3 is only good for one lap at that pace. Consistent lap time will be more like 1:25 pace limiter by tyre and brake temps (on non CCB cars). Still the single lap time it set is very, very quick.
