So the speculation is that there will be a CSL, but no GTS this time around? Or will the GTS come later in the model's life cycle as opposed to last generation?

1/2 of this thread = "its a CSL. wonder what they are REMOVING to save weight..."

Other 1/2 of this thread = "its a CSL. they need to add MORE to it to distinguish it from a regular M4"

They're probably waiting for the AWD spec to drop first before releasing any times...

We don't, but they promised something special for next year to commemorate 50 years of M GmbH. A CS wouldn't be that special...

From the looks of it, I actually like the splitter and duckbill. I wish that the car had an actual diffuser though. It would complete the look for sure.
Variety is the spice of life, I mean, look at what Porsche does with the 911, they had a whopping 24 variants of the car.

The 2021 Porsche Carrera S is 7:30 and has a price of EUR 120k plus...

That is probably not fast enough for you either...

What are the chances that they'll widen the track and extend the fender arches?

Since both add weight, probably not very likely on a CSL...

I think this G82 generation is going to get many variations along the way, as they're going to add power and make suspension tweaks at various times, and call it a "new" version of M. I expect quite a few "specialty versions". ....which is why we ALL should feel so intrigued about future G8Xs since they got the base and opening versions so well sorted out. If the base model drives like this, imagine how well future G8X models will drive.

The AWD version is going to be lightning quick, and future versions with more power, less weight and suspension tweaks will be track animals. Can't wait!

But I'm getting a base model now, and may trade it in later for an upgrade in 3 to 4 years, because the LCI G82 may be the one to keep ...since the next generation of M may be a hybrid of some sort (fast as hell, but likely less thrilling).

If you like the way the G8X looks, getting one now (or later) is a no-brainer, because of how well they drive.

Word from BMW is that the GTS nomenclature will be replaced with CSL going forward.

With the F8X, the release order was indeed base/comp/GTS/(LCI)/CS

Visually, to me, the car in the OP looks more like a CS than a CSL though.

if its a special edition, limited availability model then the pricing will be astronomical and dealers will gouge.

Let’s wait and see. But I have a strong hunch that BMW ///M would want a strong showing for their new baby, so they will provide a car with PSC2 for the AMS/SA supertest. And it is entirely ligit since they are offered as an option.

There are two different mules in two very different configurations if one looks close enough.

Indeed, the car on the first 4 and last 6 pictures does not have the blue patches on the fenders at the top of the wheel wells the other car has. Other than that it’s less obvious what the differences are.

The car without the blue patches seem to sit lower.

One has rear seats, the other doesn't along with heavier camo'd hood/bonnet and mirrors.

I like the look of the integrated wing in the boot...fitting for a CSL model.
