This will be a pretty car! I'm not a dravit fan, but it will look very nice with red/black interior.

You need to get what fits your use plan for the car...

I personally would not do the carbon fiber seats if I were doing a G8x. I'd drive myself crazy worrying about the bolsters getting in and out of the car. Nobody would ever want to ride with me...maybe that's not a bad thing. Good call on the driving assistance pkg. I passed on it on my CV also. I don't drive enough to need it.

I must have been lucky here in the UK. Not only am I getting out of my RS4 with £1000 back, but my car is scheduled for build week 2 of April.

Went with Skyscraper and Fiona Extended Leather.

"ordered" doesn't mean much. Just means you and your dealer agreed on price. It's all about allocations, which are production slots.

I'll translate what your dealer told you. They do not currently have an allocation for you, but hope to get one for you so that you'll get your car by the end of the year. You are currently on a waitlist at your dealer for an allocation.

You should ask them what number in line are you on their waitlist, and how many M4 allocations have they been getting every month.

If you want certainty, you need to be asking dealers for available allocations (very hard to find), or find one that you can be #1 on the list.

(Luckily, I know a bit how this mess works, I worked 15 years in the automotive space, managing dealers, marketing and sales around the world, over 3 continents.)

I, the customer, ordered. The dealer did not yet "order in production".
Commercial systems and Production systems are separate and reconvene when an Order ID is assigned to a VIN.

As you say, I am on a waitlist, hence the long timelines. I think there are 6 people ahead of me, something like this.
The good news: M4 are less in demand than M3. M3X expected deliveries are already in 2023 as I could see on their system!!

Tbh, if I get it before the winter it's OK. Worst case scenario is early 2023... that would suck a$$, but I have no choice.
As said, it's a leisure car, so not something I absolutely need right now.

I am excited, but not in a hurry...

...yet!!

supercar performance level for half the price, 4WD safety, BMW quality, and Motorsport as a legendary badge.

Moon roof

That is about it, did not option it up. Currently driving a M440ix with a few options that are cool but I can live without so I kept it simple.

Let the waiting game begin, 11 folks ahead of me on the waiting list for an allocation.

Wow, not saying G82 are easy to find, but 11 is a pretty long line for them. You should call around, I'd bet you'd find one a lot sooner.

When did you order? I put an order in about 4 weeks ago and it's due to be built WC 7th March. I can't really argue with that timescale!

Called a couple other dealers, one had addendums and was eliminated, another dealer had 4 ahead of me in their order bank with an estimated may/June production slot and July/Aug delivery for me.

Walked into the dealer on Monday and drove out Monday night in my São Paulo yellow convertible with Yas Marina blue interior with all the carbon fiber bits. Salesman said it was on the floor for twenty minutes. Meant to be I guess.
