G80 M3 LCI late? Why?
Is it just me or is BMW late in announcing the G80 M3 refresh? When is production supposed to switch?
And if they are late, why? I have a possible theory. According to ynguldyn, the 2025 M2 is getting a power bump and will have 475 hp with manual or auto. The 2025 M3, based on our sources, is NOT getting a bump and the base with manual will have 473 hp like pre-LCI. So 2 hp LESS than the M2! That would be the first time it ever happens (M2 having more power than the M3, and we're talking same base trim) and likely not acceptable, so BMW is trying to figure it out. Perhaps they'll get rid of the base M3 in most markets? Or get rid of the manual? Or get rid of the RWD? Would love to hear other's thoughts and theories! |

They JUST announced the M4 LCI which is going into production now. The M3 LCI isn't going into production until July. So not sure why you think it's late.

Gosh, idk. It's hard to imagine how they would take a more expensive M car and give it less HP than the cheaper one (that doesn't have a competition or CS moniker). I would imagine they would even write down a false HP # just to make the M3 appear as though it has more HP than a M2.
However, I do agree with you that it seems a little late into the cycle for the LCI. In the F8X generation, the pre LCI was from 2015-2017 and the LCI came out in late 2017. Given that F8X came out as a 2021 model there should've been a refresh in 2023 |

The base M3 was a mistake. Flame suit on.

u r a mistake
Seriously you need to qualify that. 20% take rate suggests an obvious market. I wouldn’t have bought m3 without base. Way too many compelling auto options out there. It was this and…CT5 bw for a modern 6MT sedan. |

I was curious to see what see what "compelling" options that guy is talking about. The only car that I could think of is the RS5. It's Porsche or BMW. End of discussion for me. |

They’ll announce late May, right before first allocations. Just like the 4.

I know this wasn't aimed at me, but I probably would have stuck with my original plan and gotten a C8. The manual drew me in. I don't need 4 doors anymore, but chose the M3 over the M4 because I like the hips.

Got it. I was genuinely curious to hear what other options people are considering. I have no Corvette experience but I have friends who love them. I have a 3 year old so the M3 works for me but if I didn’t need 4 doors, I would daily a 911.

I definitely didn't want to spend 911 money. We looked pretty hard at the 718, but I would want the 4.0/6MT, and general consensus was that a GTS would be $25k over sticker if I could even get one before production ended. Getting a Spyder would just be impossible.

definitely not late! M4 LCI was announced on 30th Jan, my dealership had received the ordering guide on 2nd Feb, I had put my order in on 6th Feb and already on 16th Feb my car was entering into the production queue with a VIN generated. Now it is showing that has already been dispatched from factory around last Friday on the 1st of March en route to my dealership and I believe I will be able to see it here in the next 3-4 weeks already (maybe even earlier?,; my first delivery with the car coming across the ocean from Europe) This was a really fast process even from the day it was officially announced. |

thanks for this info, definitely not experienced with the delivery process from across the pond, I only know that the total time for the Ro-Ro ships to traverse the ocean is around 2 weeks

you should be able to find out what ship it's on and then track the ship via vessel finder |

But yeah, eddj when it gets a ship assignment, you can call the Genius line with your VIN and they'll tell ya what boat it's on. |

it just moved to "In Transit" status today. Does this status usually mean is on a trailer currently going toward the port where the ship is or that it has been already loaded onto the ship ?
