F90 => G80
Hello,
Did anyone moved from M5 F90 to G80 M3/M4? As I have my M5 for the 5 years now, I am thinking of the next car to replace my F90. I have 3 ideas right now - G82 M4 LCI (I have also G05 X5 and iX1 so moving to the coupe is not an issue), G80 M3 LCI, or G90 M5 however the weight of this car seems to me as it will loose its sporty feel towards straight line acceleration. Did anybody moved from F90 to G80? What were your impressions? Didn't you miss V8 or did you noticed any difference in performance during everyday use? |

You'll lose some luxury but gain a more sportier experience
& M3 because those hips don't lie

I have a 2022 M5 comp, and before that a 2019 M5 comp about 120,000km in them. I also have a heavily modified 2024 M4 comp and before that a 2022 M4 comp.
I love my M4, but it's regulated to strictly a track car. And nothing beats the torque and response of the M5. But I love both.

I recently replaced my 21 M5C with a 24 M3 CS and would say that there is quite a large difference between the 2 cars.
The M5’s straight line acceleration and torque is breathtaking and the engine is an absolute beast that just keeps pulling to ridiculous speeds. The V8 has a great sound but it’s quite muted by BMW in the cabin and you don’t really get to hear that much of its exhaust note. The M5’s definitely way more luxurious and a fantastic highway tourer. In contrast, the M3 is WAYYYYY more sportier and a far more engaging driving experience due to its lighter weight and size. The M3 loves to tackle corners where as the M5 can do it but you definitely notice the added weight and size and just isn’t nearly as fun to drive on a twisty road. The M3 obviously doesn’t come close to the M5 in the luxury department which isn’t real surprising considering the jump from the 3 series to the 5 series. The engine in the M3 is superb and I don’t really miss the V8 and the S58 gives the same performance as the M5 due to the lower weight but it definitely has a different character than the V8. In short if you’re looking for a far more engaging and sporty driving experience, the M3 is the better car but if you’re looking for a more luxurious long distance touring car with near supercar straight line performance the M5 is your car. You really can’t go wrong with either car, they’re both tremendous vehicles, you’ll just need to decide what’s more important to you.

I agree with what's been said having owned an F90 M5Comp and now on my second G80 M3 (6mt and now xdrive). Fast car, but not that fun to drive, and ZF8 in the car was a let down. The M3 offers a better looking package, more fun to drive, and nearly the same performance. In terms of quality, I actually had quite a few rattles in the M5 and don't really have anything like that in the M3s by comparison.

I searched for the similar threads before writhing this post, but either there wasnt anything similar or I do not know how to use search engine on this forum properly. When I put f90 in the search there is nothing about F90 in the search results So appologies for my ignorance

You need to search with Google. Put your search terms in there and add Bimmerpost and that’s when you’ll get good results.
