Until recently I would have agreed and signed the petition. But now that the new M3 will have the bugs bunny grill, I can't sign the petition in good faith since I wouldn't buy the new M3 touring unless it lost the grill.

Bravo on the petition. But I'd want BMW to bring over the plug in G21 first, so I have something to buy.

Otherwise, I'm probably going Tesla or Polestar2.

He said the X2 is a replacement for the 3er wagon and I'm sure that is outselling the wagon by leaps and bounds. I think the disparity was even greater between the 5GT and the E61 when it was sold in the US. So in the US, it's not just wagon vs GT, it's wagon vs whatever SUV BMW spits out to be a wagon replacement. I think BMW is done selling GTs, and those outsold wagons... so not looking good for wagons in the states.
I personally had ZERO interest in an F31 because BMW only offered the 4 cylinder versions in the US (328i/330i and 328d). Similarly, I would have zero interest in a G21 330i as well. However, I would seriously consider M340i Touring and immediately jump on a G81 M3 Touring.
I have an F31. Love the utility, but the four banger sounds like a blender.

Lease is up in May. Probably not getting another BMW (this is my 3rd).

The problem is that I don't think it is fair to sign a petition asking for BMW to import a vehicle that I wouldn't buy. That would be wrong. So, unfortunately, the grill is relevant to the request.

What are the interested G81 customers driving now, if leasing, what will they drive for an other 2 years if the petition is a success?
Currently have an F31 and Civic Type R. Just got rid of my F90 M5 last week. Considering an X3M right now, but I turn cars pretty quickly so even if I got the X3M, would just give it to my wife to drive or put it up on Swapalease.

A wagon is already a very tough sell. A RWD only wagon is a death nail before it even starts. When Caddy did their 2nd gen CTS V that had the wagon variant, they managed to sell 1700 of them in 4 years. They sold roughly 8000 sedans and 8000 coupes in the same time frame.

First, all BMW needs to do is read this thread and notice the numerous people (stupidly) openly admitting they wouldn't buy an M3 wagon but voted that they would anyway. This behavior COMPLETELY reinforces the correct analysis that people are simply talking out their ass. Many couldn't even afford such a vehicle, but profess that availability is the only obstacle. When push comes to shove, only a crazy-rare few are really going to put their $80k+ into a wagon... even if it does have a M on the liftgate.

I asked this before, but will again... Has anyone else noticed how rare (like never) it is to hear of someone buying a CPO Porsche Sport Turismo? I literally can't recall ever hearing someone even mention they're considering one! Also, look around and you'll notice how unbelievably rare it is to actually see a Sport Turismo on the street. I think I've seen 3 ever... and I drive 30k miles a year throughout the entire northeast. BMW has surely done the market research and concluded (correctly imho) that wagons don't sell unless they're marketed as a SUV alternative like an AllRoad.

Yeah same here. In another thread I specifically committed to buying the car if it didn’t have the dumb grill. Since it does, I can’t see myself purchasing it. Would love for the touring to come to the US, but can’t sign the petition for something I now have zero intent on purchasing. Now if the LCI fixes the front end, I’ll be back in business. Regardless, good luck to those who are still in the game!

Yet the prices are skyrocket for them.

I don't care nor afford for a wagon, but i signed anyway.

Is this wagon going to share the same ugly front giant grille as the upcoming M3 and M4?

Doing a 1 off Euro delivery style group-buy might wake them up. If we could get a large dealer to place an order for 500 cars it might work.

I would commit to buying one

The issue is that BMW does not have a big enough market for this car here in NA. Although some of us would absolutely love it, the majority of M car owners would not. And I think with BMW in financial hardship (allegedly) after COVID, there is a 0% chance of it coming to the states.
