I don't like it. Reminds of the station wagon my parents owned.

I have no earthly idea why BMW makes the X4M and the X6M for the US market but not this. Those cars are big heavy and useless. There is no reason to buy one of those over their 3/5 counterparts. This car however is awesome. Sucks we won’t get it.

Also: M suvs are fun for stoplight drag racing, wasting tires and brakes but this wagon would truly deliver a real sports car driving experience in a useful form factor.

That audi RS6 is too expensive likewise with that merc. This M3 wagon is at a price point I could justify.

Not the G21 version right? BMW Canada's website only shows the G20 sedan: https://www.bmw.ca/en/all-models/3-series.html

Not for everyone, but clearly there is a large amount interest in the vehicle. It will probably garnish more interest then the m4, which might I add is terrible. The 3 dealers I work with have had allocations consistently since it's release. The m3 is always waitlisted.

It boggles my mind that BMW doesn't bring any Tourings to the US but remains fixated on pushing X4's and X6's. I haven't looked at the sales numbers, and I'm biased by my own opinion that "SUV Coupes" are the stupidest cars in existence, but how on earth do they choose to engineer and trickle out generation-after-generation of those things while they deprive the US of Tourings. I guess factory location also plays into it, but it's dissappointing nonetheless!

I have no earthly idea why people have so little understanding about business. The answer is BMW makes M SUVs because that's where the sales are. Americans have a proven track record of buying lots of SUVs; wagons not so much. It shouldn't surprise anyone that BMW's product offerings sync up with this reality.

Everyone understands it's all about the money. However, if you peel the onion, it's more nuanced then just looking at sales. Where they have factories, what their margin is on each type of product, costs to engineer/certify, and what perceived cannibalization they expect are some things we don't really have visibility into. What is surprising for many folks is that BMW can always make a business case for the X4/X6/GT, but sadly not for a US Touring. Clearly someone is crunching the numbers in the background.. no one doubts that.

Unfortunately only in German, but very cool insights on the story behind the M3 Touring for those that understand…and for all others, some production clips and even some of the very first prototype build clips
