RaceChip Data Update

Hello everyone,

I recently stated that the racechip gts black was having troubles in Map 7. So i went back down to map 1 and every three days went up maps, then i tested map 6 for a week straight and it was perfect. No pull timing feeling, ran good numbers. So i figured hmm maybe it's used to it now tried map 7 again today, and instead of my car actually stopping at 127mph now it pauses at 115 and the entire acceleration feels jittery. So if you own a racechip map 7 is a gimmick. Not sure why but definitely does not work in that mode.

Youre gonna get the “i ran map 7 no problem” responses but thats only a few data points. It looks like your particular car/fuel combo doesnt like map 7. It happens but i think the 100-200 on map 6 vs map 7 was only a couple tenths slower and 60-130 a few tenths (when map 7 actually worked and didnt start chewing the motor). I would either stop messing with map 7 (if i couldnt keep it in my pants ) or ask race chip to send a logger or a US replacement unit or mapping for 91 octane on map 7 (which will prob be equal to map 6 now so whats the point right?). You may also need to re gap your spark plugs which will help with a tune also. I suspect you would have the same issue with jb4 or even possibly a tune. Thats my 2c for what its worth (probably not much lol).

It goes a long way forsure, I'm going to contact them tomorrow and see what can happen. Also will check out those spark plugs out- map 6 is good but i was looking to be in the high 7 second 60-130 range honestly. Really wish there was a real tune out

60-130 in the 7s is crazy fast for a 6 banger. Just to put that into perspective that what my friends huracan does, as did my R8 v10 plus. Youre gonna need a tune for sure lol. I still think map 6 can safely do low 8s your DA was over 2000. For plug and play thats a really solid result.

Exactly 😂😂. Yeah i know though I'm impressed with the 1 second lost in the 60-130 as is. By the way i was wondering if you ran an o2 simulator with downpipes would that run well? So it doesn't have a CEL in theory

Have seen numerous under 8 second 100-200kph (62-124mph) runs on Youtube stock M3/4 Comp. Seem to recall 7.7 was the best. Other cars compared to it weren't even close--RS5, C63S AMG, Alpha Q, 911/911S. Very impressed with this part of power band as it's the most usable for road driving--conditions permitting, of course.

Why settle for race chip ? Wait for a proper tune when it is available, if you are already going to void the mechanical portion of your warranty.

Why not , it's advertised as safe and tune won't be out for another year atleast

They/you definitely need to log what's going on here. Thanks for putting in the effort to do this
