Well to be fair, a couple things. One, mine is blendmounted, so it wouldn't be *super* easy for them to remove but it can be done with a bit of effort. It'd take them a few minutes to even figure out how to remove it without ripping it off. And second, I didn't actually leave it open like that but opened it up to take a picture lol

LOL, and it was a nice pic too!

I have a BlendMount as well... TBH, I can't figure out how to take the detector off either. You're supposed to be able to depress (or raise, one or the other) the levered end and it slides off, but that has yet to work for me. I've even tried with it removed from the mirror and I still can't get it off the metal mount. I'm pretty sure the adapter is forever welded to the body of the R8 now and will be one with the car when it's sold.

It's a cantilever design for the clip, you press the button on the R8 itself down to release the clip while pushing opposite the lever in the back and the front of the mount to push it down. I think Twilight is going to be the color for my next M vehicle whenever that will be.
