Xhp Max Rpm Please give me some advice.
I’m still a bit confused on the Max RPM setting. I turned it on and dropped all the values down to like 6000rpm, but my car still shifts at close to 7000rpm when I floor it. I have a BM3 Stage 1 tune and xHP Stage 2, so my turbo runs out of air by 6000rpm. best time is 6400~So I want the shift time to occur at 6400 rpm. Since I have an ID8 instrument, the pointer is not very clear, and I will miss the best time every time I don't pay attention.

I read the xhp manual and mentioned that if you want to use max rpm, you need to turn off Kickdown. These values are only used when the kickdown switch (the resistance at the end of the throttle travel) is not activated.
After testing, it still has no effect.

Also not sure why you say your turbos run out of air by 6000rpms. These turbos are quite big from factory especially compared to the previous gen s55. These turbos do not stop pulling at 6000 unless the tune is not right.

I'm trying to find help from the xhp team, but haven't received any official reply so far.

Just floor it without going to the kickdown. Still not working like it should though. Maybe an update is needed on their end.

Yes, I tried it, but it still reaches 7000+ before upshifting.

Interesting. I was using this feature to lower rpms down to 6900 and back up to 7200 and all works. It may overshoot a little bit but if it did, it was 1st gear only by about 100rpms. I was seeing this all in logs because when you look on the rpms I doubt that its easy to see when you better to look at the road… Also… same question. You are running out of turbo at 6000!?!?! Something is wrong with your tune, or you have some other issues to address… Im on 5000ft and turbos are reaching 7200 even and are having some buffer. Im on Custom e65 tune from Bend Calibration (sending kudos abd respect) just because BM3 OTS is not what I liked. Plenty of ignition corrections and even misfires due to fuel quality in my area and elevation. Wish you good luck troubleshooting the issue… |

Other school, practises are to push just over this point and with xhp set properly you ca get extra hard kick forward while shifting to next gear. This is what I have now 7200rpms limit and best times as TCU also learnes where is the best to shift depends on conditions etc. Another school is lowering rpms way lower and building shifts where the torque is best for you. But I have not seen this to be ever best when it comes to time even if feels great. On the end I think all comes down to your trials-and-errors method and you will find best setting for you needs. Good luck and have fun!!!!!!! Its great fun if you have time, place to work on your launches. |
