Single midpipe vs Dual equal length midpipe

Despite the many threads, I am still hesitating between these two options.
This is the only exhaust mod that I am doing and everything else remains stock (Downpipes and cat back).
Those who have had or heard both on G80/G82, can you share your experience and thoughts? For a daily driver which option would you choose? Which one has a quieter cold startup in efficient mode?
Thanks

I have had the AA dual on my last 2 M4's

I have the dual on on g83 and its great. It is louder at higher rpm than the single but the single is deeper lower down.

Cold start in an enclosed space is loud but much lower than the previous gen car.

If you plan to keep the stock downpipes and rear catback you will be happy with either.

Both x pipe and single being catless will give around the same volume. We prefer the single.

I've heard both AA midpipes back to back and have the single mid. The X is slightly louder to my ears and has an (imo) more aggressive sound. It sounds awesome. I have the single mid and feel like it's deeper and throatier sounding. It's also smoother. It has no rasp or drone on my manual car. Unsure about drone on the auto. I would be happy with either but personally like the smoother deeper sounds of the single mid. It to me, sounds more like a straight 6 sound that I'm used to. You can't go wrong either way.

What about cold startup in efficient mode? Is it neighbors/family friendly?

I have the single VT midpipe and with stock downpipes and rear section, the cold start is very neighbour friendly. My neighbours stock F82 sounds way louder on cold start.

When I got my midpipe, the X-pipe was the only option. I got the active autowerke X-pipe, and I'm pleased with it. I do not see a reason to change it.

The single midpipe is currently the top option; the sound is similar to the X-pipe. You benefit from a deeper mid-range tone but lose some sound on high RPM.

Both will get the job done, but it's a personal preference on which one to get.

Thanks Mike! The single midpipe seems quieter both for cold startups and at WOT. Do you confirm?

WOT for sure; the cold start should be the same.

Thanks all! I made my decision and I will go with the non-resonated single midpipe from Supersprint (I am based in Europe) + OPF delete module from Leib engineering. As I plan to keep everything else stock I hope this set up will be the right balance of aggressive sound, sophisticated, rasp free tone but not too loud.

Aesthetically I just prefer the look of the PSI dual mid pipe with the X pipe. It's a great looking design. I know you'll only see it on a lift or when you first receive it but it just looks clean and near OEM. If I end up getting a midpipe that'll most likely be what I pick up.

I wonder why BMW engineers are not considering the single midpipe design?! Anyone with some technical insights / hypotheses on this?

I have been debating this for a few months as well while I wait for my car to arrive. Have watched many videos comparing them and I think I will go with the AA X-pipe with the high flow cats. The catted version sounds a little bit better to me but that could just be due to different recordings. Video below has great quality of the catted xpipe and talks about a lot of the differences. Will probably order in the next few months once my car arrives.

Fitment for secondary cats and OPF (in Europe) is my guess and they have more options with tuning acoustics with the duals and muffler.

I have a single AA mid-pipe from Xtreme Powerhouse and its a deeper tone for sure. Sounds great, lots of burbles, not raspy, and very little drone if any at all but I have my valves fully opened. How it should sound from the factory for sure.

It gets a lot of compliments

Quick question, I just bought a MAD downpipe and planning to pair it with a PSI EL midpipe will this setup cause a lot of drone?

I haven't personally tested that setup but, im sure there are forum members out there with it. Our downpipes are extremely popular and people are using them with all types of mid pipes and exhaust setups.

Our Fat boy version downpipes attached to our single midpipe and stock rear has no drone.
