Can we go back to talking about cars, please? This thread is begging to be locked at this point.

Actually, you assuming that being "woke" can only be negative truly shows that you don't know what you're talking about.

Whether a cultural term like woke is positive or negative is in the "eye of the beholder", no matter how strongly you feel about it.

Having a strong opinion has caused more trouble on this little earth than plagues or earthquakes. - Voltaire

How many people are there do you think that can even afford to have M3s?? Let alone a bmw??

It's a small % of a small % of the general population.

Nobody driving around in these things and they are still rare to see on the road, and when you do it's sort of cringey moment

I suppose that depends on where you live. I see multiple stock and modded G8X's a day here in So.Cal.

What's cringey is when others fail to realize that each and every G8X owner went against the grain in deciding what was best for them instead of just going along with the herd. It's those who think their subjective opinions should make others feel embarrassed that make me cringe.

I think you misunderstood. Mainstream consumers by definition means potential consumers of anything commonly available to the masses. Or some variation of that theme. I was intentionally conveying what people who are not auto journalists or M purists think about the design. Not that it really matters, but I did not intend to infer that every single person you run into on the street is a potential buyer of a G8X.

Saying it's a cringey moment when "you" (as in, everyone you expected to read your post) drive by one is silly.

If you said "and when I do it's sort of a cringey moment", that would be fine, because it's your opinion, which you are fully entitled to.

Brother from another mother! I also had two F31s before getting an M2. Would have gotten a G81 for sure.

Nice! The M5 Touring is interesting but it will be huge and 50% more expensive than the M3. G81 is the perfect size and price

This will all be lost on you, but here it goes anyway…

You don’t need a dictionary to know what woke is, and it wouldn’t do you any good anyway as the people rewriting the dictionaries (and anything else they don’t like), the people tearing down statues of historical events, rewriting children’s books, classical literature, destroying universities and governments alike - they are the ones giving you your definition. It surprises me none that you don’t have any questions about the “definition” you’ve provided (actually it’s bullshit propaganda but let’s not split hairs).

You just swallow it right up, no questions asked. How cute.
You know, I can’t say for sure but based on what little you’ve written and thought I think you’d really enjoy the new Top Gear!
I do believe it’s made for you lol.

(You may need to look up one or more of the following terms or consult an approved, verified fact checker for your next thought…)

Woke is fearful. It, they, them never have open debates, never have fair arguments and only spout off their bullshit in places they control, and where their statements will not be challenged (like your head).

Timidity goes hand in hand with their fear of being exposed. The people who espouse woke are timid little bullies who are using mob power and guerrilla tactics to destroy free states, people, and thought (None of which you seem familiar with).

I’m sure you are 100% woke. I don’t doubt you in the least. Someone who’s only recourse to a thought they don’t like is to look for support from an “authority” that’s controlled by their woke union, rather than use their own brain to enter a dialogue and think on their own, is very likely woke.

The only other thing you did was attempt to make a personal threat which I found quite hilarious. Your first instinct is to check with some approved authority who then tells you exactly what they want you to know. Your only other displayed ability is to make a threat against what you fear - apparently in this case you fear bullets. That’s reasonable. Someone like you probably should, because you are displaying that you are inclined to violence, or at least the thought of it, and bullets have a way of ending up in people who are.

yes, I have no doubt you are 100% woke.
Oh, save your plane fare. You couldn’t get within 50ft of me if you tried. If by some miraculous chance you did… well you’re right to be concerned. Out here we’re a bit more polite. We don’t slap people we disagree with, we debate them with words, because people here slap back with 9mm.
Not as bad as I was expecting, thanks for going easy on me

My name is Phil.

I am 44 years old and was born in the UK. I moved to the US when I was two, lived in Philly and Seattle until I was 10, then moved to South Africa for two years until returning back to UK when I was 12. By the time I started secondary school (high school) I had been to 13 different schools.

My parents are dual citizens currently living in Arizona, they are due to make a permanent move back to the UK in the next month (this scares me )

My brother lived in Savannah for 8 years and was a green card holder until he was killed there 4 years ago when an 80 yr old decided to do a u-turn on the freeway and my brother on his motorbike rode straight into him.

When I was 16 I got a girl pregnant, we were both drunk, we didn't really know each other, she had him when we were 17. He is 26 now and I still call him 'Captain'

When I was 20 my g-f cheated on me with one of my best friends. I saw her for the first time in about 8 years a couple weeks ago at my son's football match, we spoke for about 30 mins and laughed together.

I have numerous scars on my head, some through actions that were my own fault and some for being in the wrong place at the wrong time. My wife gets severely anxious when I go out to the pub still.

These are some of my experiences which have made me who I am and shaped my view of the world. I don't need left or right leaning media and social commentators to tell me what to think or who to hate. For me, the original definition of woke has now been twisted to suit the agenda's of people who are in and/or want power and are trying to provoke cultural wars, ultimately for their own personal gain.

PS - I don't watch 'new' TopGear. Freddie is an outstanding sportsman and has overcome some of his demons to start a TV career in his own right, Paddy is a Saturday evening entertainment guy, his best work was on a show called Phoenix Nights, I don't enjoy the chemistry on TopGear. Fully respect Chris but seems like he is the butt of the jokes on TopGear which doesn't seem right.

The BBC had to unfortunately get rid of Jeremy because he punched a colleague. I blame Jeremy for that not the BBC, I wish he would stop shooting himself in the foot because I love watching and reading his stuff. Clarkson's Farm is very, very good.

PPS - You guys really need to stop hiding behind your guns

Comp, rear drive is going to be a little beast.

I’m still hoping they release an AWD manual. I’d consider replacing my Porsche 911 that’s awd and manual and daily drive it. I’ve really grown to appreciate all wheel drive (with rear wheel drive bias) on my cars.

These allotments and builds are taking a long time these days. Hopefully you have a fun ride to use while you wait.

Interesting you jumped into the brand on an m235. This RWD m3 is the antithesis of that model. You’ve really climbed the model line. Not bad at all!

I’d say my favorite still is the original M2. Perfect power and size car.

Indeed, you are 100% correct. All by design. And there are multiple agendas at play, including provoking cultural wars to gain political power, while some hijack terms and use them as weapons simply for financial gain. It's so very sad, but oh-so effective.

But looking back at history, this has always been done in many countries and civilizations across the globe. It's just more swiftly and efficiently done today given our ready access to the delivery of information.

We're Americans. We love guns. I have several friends who own 30+, and that's not even enough for them. Hec, I know of a group who buys tanks and are trying to get access to flamethrowers, just in case. Doomsday Preppers are a real thing here in this country. So yes, if/when absolute chaos breaks out, many Americans will be ready.

-------

OK, back on topic...yes, the G81 is a fine, performance wagon (filled with aggression plus practicality), but I have no need for a performance wagon, or a performance SUV, or even a performance sedan...so I own a G82. Lucky for me, I don't need one car to do it all.

Great to meet you Kevin

The propaganda here in the UK is rife and causing big divides between friends and family members Yea understand it's not a new concept.

Tanks and Flamethrowers I get, I would just rather put our dukes up after a heated disagreement rather then go straight to getting a 9mm cap in my ass

Back on topic...?

Kudos to BMW for making a version of the G8* that can cater to most people's needs. I would love a saloon/touring as the family wagon but my wife is set on a higher up view of the minions in their MINI's and Ford Fiestas
