Some people here confuse liking the car despite that face with liking the way it looks outright, like a change of opinion. Harris is pretty clear with what he thinks about it. Car has been around for ages, facelift is coming. We got used to it.

This is still a butterface of a design though. The 7 series E65 still is not a pretty car. Same logic here.

Wow. This is what g80 crowd has become. 😭 Not knowing who Harris is is the same as not being a car enthusiast. No wonder that most of the g80 buyers, according to that pole, are clueless 20 year olds apparently.

Aesthetic preference is an opinion. Plenty of us think the car looks great, I think it looks better than previous gens.

I admit when it first came out I was shocked by the change. Seeing it in person and driving a couple and appreciating the car overall, I'm all in and as a result even bought a CSL after owning a 22 M4Cx.

So it really doesn't matter how much repeating the complaint about the grill is made, it's completely irrelevant to those (many thousands) of us who really enjoy the car enough to wait as much as a year for an M3 to come in on order, drive for a year/5k miles and still sell it used for over sticker. The car is really really good and no amount of Fxx love will change that, The F was great for a lot of people, that's fine. The G is great for a lot of people too, even if it's not the F people.

Do you normally base groups of thousands of people on 1 moron? Or is that just who the F crowd is?

After all, here you are in the G forums. I haven't come to the F forums even once to tell you how dated and ugly those cars are.

What's up with that?

All M3 vehicles are already compromise vehicles. Their roots are from a sedan then modified by M to go faster. It's not like the sedan is a true sports car from the ground up and the wagon is a compromise.

You know, you can get your point across without being a total dbag. It takes some practice, but it is possible.

this was a Front Page story so visible right away by everyone, not just G forums and is the ONLY reason we owners of dated and ugly cars (oh, the irony…) are in here.

How much practice? I don't think there's enough time for this one.

Just because a door is unlocked doesn't obligate one to walk through it. One is free to comment, the other free to reply. Again, even if I did click on an F thread I wouldn't go in talking sht, it's not my business.....but regardless, probably wouldn't find any front page news links about a dated generation anyways.

….and the current F-crowd are a bunch of gang members and hooligans that I continually arrest at takeovers and in parking lots performing donuts. See, we can all join in on your irrationality.

P.S. Not everybody cares about Harris and being a car enthusiast isn’t predicated on being aware of his existence (…or taking his opinion(s) as gospel).

For the record, it did run a 7:45 time there) and better than most cars in just about any day to day tasks from transporting kids and strollers to taking long distance trips with legit luggage, to making warehouse runs. The only real issue with the car is that it’s a PITA to park and so if you live in the city, it’s not as easily manageable but then again neither is any truck or suv for that matter.

I think it’s reasonable to not like performance wagons because of the perception of what they are or maybe the styling, but I don’t believe that dynamically you’re losing anything buying one over just about any sedan and most coupes and certainly just about any suv. And for the record, I’ve owed an F87 and have driven the G80 and ended buying my wagon after that drive. My two cents.
I won’t bother attempting to show the light to someone who thinks an M3 wagon has absolutely identical performance to an M3 sedan. However, I will point to the objective fact that people are potentially “losing” around £5315 ($6280) buying a wagon over the sedan.

That is because the G81 is only available as M XDrive as $DEITY intended.

If you compare it with the Competition XDrive version of the G80, the delta should be much smaller (or the UK is weird market).

Massive grills on the 3 series variants- split headlights on the new 7 and x7. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

BMW maybe should have made the grill M specific - a very similar look exists on a 430i. I think it slightly detracts from any aggressive set up. Those are my thoughts and opinions.

When you have a design that "hopefully it will grow" you must agree that is a failure. A proper design makes you want the car at the moment you lay eyes on it.
Well said.

The thing is, a touring is a better chasis. Way better. And is a very good overall car for the people that are active and enjoy outdoors as well.
I disagree that a wagon is less sportier. I also believe that if you know how to drive it is a sublime versatile sports car. The driver makes a difference.
Not least, I also own an X1 E84 that has the 3 series touring chassis and I can honestly say that in terms of stability and road behaviour eats my X4 for breakfast. This is actually why I keep it.

There’s a reason I seldom post here. Internet forums really do bring out the worst in people, or (maybe more accurately) reveal people’s true nature. Many of the remarks in this thread wouldn’t be made in person, or would be phrased a whole lot differently.

There’s nothing wrong with disagreeing or being critical, and I'm not saying we have to be entirely clinical, but it should be done thoughtfully, constructively, and charitably. But that seems to be asking for a lot these days.
