I want a flamethrower. Also something ironic about a Brit telling an American to stop hiding behind their guns seeing as they are part of the reason why the Second Amendment exists.

I’m still hoping they release an AWD manual. I’d consider replacing my Porsche 911 that’s awd and manual and daily drive it. I’ve really grown to appreciate all wheel drive (with rear wheel drive bias) on my cars.

These allotments and builds are taking a long time these days. Hopefully you have a fun ride to use while you wait.

Interesting you jumped into the brand on an m235. This RWD m3 is the antithesis of that model. You’ve really climbed the model line. Not bad at all!

I’d say my favorite still is the original M2. Perfect power and size car.

I agree with everything you said. For me the M2 is still the most usable fun i've ever had in a car. It's also the car I Tracked the most. I even went that far as taking out the back seats and replacing the front ones with recaros. Amazing little car.

My first ever car was a seat ibiza but I've always been a fan of BMW since my dad always drove them. As soon as I made my own money I went with it. At the time a true M was still to much for me so I bought a second hand M235i. Loved that car. Decat, tune and it was flying.

My F82 was my dream car when I bought it. I've had an amazing time with it but wanted to taste the porsche brand and bought a Cayman T. Was a fun car, specialy on the track. But I missed the straight 6 of an M car.

A 911 with decent options is still 30k over a new G80 where I live so that really isn't an option for me. Especially since I need a 4 door car for my daughter who gets born next month

Phil, DM5PAV...Phil. Jumping back on after posting a rant to my last reply to you, then deleting it and leaving just an 'Ok'...great work.

I don't need justification for it, I get what you think might happen if you don't have guns. My comment to specifically you was around the fact that you would rather pull a 9mm than have a fist fight (slap). After seeing this yesterday, maybe you have a point

I was just poking jmg a bit in regard to his comment that Harris may be getting over the front end.

Either he is, is not or is beating a dead horse with a beaver joke, who knows

What a great review of your life in cars. My love affair with the brand started driving my uncle’s manual 1996 525i when it was brand new. It was an alpine white, executive 4 door and I was amazed at the beauty of the 5 series and knew I wanted a 4 door Bimmer. In 1999 I picked up a new z4 2.8- eventually getting an e46 330i manual for myself and enjoying 4 doors. My favorite was a 530i manual (e60)… the list went on for me. I’ve had a lot of cars but it was always the simplicity of that i6 and manual that made me happy owning bmws.

EV’s are soon going to be the norm- I think it’s wonderful you ordered that m3- 6 speed. This could be a car in 30 years you talk about as your all time favorite.

I have two girls- 5 and 6. They fit perfectly in my Porsche 911. Maybe they only age you can truly be happy in that backseat. So I’m enjoying that car with them as a weekend car.

Your M3 will be that joy with your daughter. So glad you have this opportunity to own a dream car the family can also enjoy. Please tag me when you get the car- I want to be the first on here to congratulate you!

It’s all in good fun! With Chris’s preference for green cars I though he actually purchased this himself when I first posted, which is why I thought he had softened his position on the grills enough to actually get one like many of us G8X owners have. It wasn’t until after I posted that it dawned on me that this was likely a press car, so unless he mentions anything in his upcoming review, I can’t say he’s softened at all.

However, making fun of the front with prosthetic beaver teeth doesn’t necessarily mean he hasn’t softened. I still call my G82 the pig nose despite now loving the look. I don’t take something so subjective so seriously. It’s bad for our health!

Thank you so much! I most certainly will tag you when I post my M3.

I must say that I went with the automatic RWD. Sorry if I made it look like I went with a manual. I would have bought the X drive, but where I live it's 4k more for the car. That I could live with. But taxes to get the car on the road are 6500 for the RWD and 8500 for the X drive. I couldn't justify that. I'm not saying I'm a pro racing driver but I had a fair share of sports cars, all RWD so I think I'll be fine.

An another note.. My salesman called me and said they are expecting to deliver my car by the end of June!!

Excellent- I might have misread the manual part. Bottom line- you will have the M by June. That’s right around the corner.

I was once an “only RWD” guy. But along the way I’ve learned to enjoy the extra grip of awd (with RWD bias). I think the RWD is truly a sportier setup. But I’m beyond the time of wanting a pure sports car. In rain , awd has saved my butt time and time again.

Stay true to who you are- I’ve had a LOT of people try and convince me to be someone else when it comes to cars. These forums are very opinionated . Just look at how our friendship developed where we were first debating the m vs m340 (truly you were probably right). We all have so much more in common than we give ourselves credit for.

I think everyone who comes on a forum is looking for that connection to the bigger thing. Glad we’ve been able to chat like this.

I still really dislike it, but - one could say strangely enough - I am a fan of the new 7 Series. I've a hunch that the G22/82 was a brutish start to BMW's new design style and that with the G60 onwards, the styling is going to get less controversial as new models get introduced. And change once again when the Neue Klasse model range breaks cover.

Ditto, thought of your post! Coincidentally, I’m not a fan of the 7 series, however I saw an X7 today with the split headlights and I gotta say I dig it.
