BMW, I hope you're listening. First, fire your design staff, hire this guy. Second, burn all the current G80 jigs and build this render instead.
Dude don't blame the design staff! I'm a designer and it's not our fault we have to follow the directors vision, it's their show .... we just supply them with what they're looking for and hope they like it.

They tune everything and sell it.

If you want change it comes from the top!

Your render really shows how badly BMW missed the mark. They're honestly trying too hard, and are coming out with a polarizing design instead of focusing on moving metal. Someone should be fired.
You mean you just want a mini M8, thought we don't want same sausage in different size anymore

Maybe ask them for a job? Seems like you know you can do better. Maybe you can sell more cars too. Change the world while you're at it. Maybe end poverty and hunger. What are we talking about again? Kanye does love me

Think he was meaning just proportions of grill and headlights and just the main architecture of the front end.

The design can be whatever but when you throw a disproportionate object on the face of the car that has no business being their and it's not even supported by the surrounding shapes it's just a mess and ya no timelessness about it. You end up with a car that is no more than a quickly passing fad that is in and out and forgotten.

Don't want bmw to start creating disposable cars that don't have a long life to their designs. Again beauty is in the eye of the beholder and to some it will tick the right boxes and it may sell like hot cakes but time will tell.

One of the hardest things to do is to create a beautiful car, something you want to stare at for hours and marvel at its beautiful lines. It's easy to design a flavor of the week, but to truly create a timeless beauty is what these companies should be about. That's how you get me to pay almost 6 figures for your car if you create a car that's more or less shock value and screaming look at me without real substance I'll just go elsewhere.

I remember way back when they started the flame surfacing and how the bmw enthusiasts where all crying murder !!! And sent Chris bangle death threats for ruining their brand and it eventually caught on and then More manufacturers copied that look and now at some point they will have to explore something new and daring and turn up the heat and do something that will again make people uncomfortable but you have to, to stay relevant you need to keep things fresh. We have to stay uncomfortable to keep things moving.

It's hard but sometimes you got to brake a few eggs to make an omelette.

Where the buck tooth grills meet the lower bumper is such a mess. I hope it's missing a trim piece or something in the spy photos that'll help a bit there.

I've never been so confident based on spy pics that I won't buy a car that I thought I would. It'll always look better than the spy pics and I'm sure it'll be ok... but I don't part with $80-90k for a car that is aesthetically "ok" or worse.

Back looks like a short X6.

Still reserving my down payment until I see more... a few tweaks could go a long way though.

This. I'm not spending $80-90k on a vehicle I need to talk myself into liking. It's that simple.

Still to be added to the front end rendering in the first post (very first post by someone who joined in August 2012):
  • both sides: the diagonal design element integrated inside the lower intakes;
  • both sides: lower intakes: slightly longer width and smaller height (slightly more 'rectangular' than 'squared' shape);
  • middle: front view camera 'dot' between the kidneys;
  • passenger's side: tow hook roundel;
  • driver's side: replace the M4 logo by an M3 logo for a start;
  • eventually add a German license plate and CFRP double-bubble roof.
See for example https://g20.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...8#post25881188

Slowly it shows that the M4 will be the alpha again as it has been for some time.
