I've had the pleasure of owning a 2022 G80 with ID7, and now a 2023 G80 with ID8, so I feel like I can give you a solid comparison.
Overall, I enjoy ID8 more. That's not to say it doesn't have its faults. The main ones that immediately come to mind are the climate control integrated into the software, and a weird Carplay issue where when I reverse it doesn't come back to Carplay (it comes back to the home screen so I always have to click back into Carplay). But those aside, the resolution of the new screens is insane. Having navigation and media on the big screen is really nice. I find the screens emit a lot of light at night, but luckily you can turn the brightness down a lot.

Cant you just say "hey BMW - turn on my heated seat"? Or "turn up the fan" All buttons do is get dirty and grime in the mechanism. Touch a button and you have the plague faster than the M3 is fast. Bacteria dispensers.

Had it in my 430 loaner
I was afraid I’d be sad to go back but I’m very happy with my car and the closer to traditional look id7 provides. Also the lack of buttons was really not cool. Makes me sad since I’ll be buying a final year m3cx that’ll have the screen. But whatever |
