So you guys are seriously arguing that the new M3/4 will be a better drivers car than the M2/M2C/M2CS ?
So how's life been under that rock ? The new M3/4 will no doubt be a sledgehammer in a straight line, good for stoplight drags, carting kids around, highway blasts etc but don't even think about comparing it to an F87 as far as driving dynamics go, that's just naive. Every expert reviewer that knows their arse from their elbow has stated the F87 is the best drivers car BMW make & have made in years.

I just have a problem with how big the M4 has gotten. My F87 is almost the same size as my E46 M3 was. The G Series M3/4 is bigger than some older M5s. The cost of the new M4 isn't significant difference than the F series M4. So I dot think it is significant over priced.

So is a Cayman a better driver's car than a 911? What makes a "better driver's car" exactly and who defines that? G8x and F87 are both great. As far as price difference, if people are optioning a G8x out to $90k they are ticking every box including the $8500 for carbon buckets + carbon trim and probably another check box for CCBs. You can't compare a $90k G8x build to a $60k stripper M2 and if you do, you're not in the market for a G8x to begin with.

If you don't drive performance cars as they are intended for whatever reason, refer to the people who can/do...

Anyway my point was they are both going to be great cars to drive and I think people are comparing price of loaded M3s to stripper M2s which is silly. |

What the hell is a 'stripper M2' ? Check the specs, theyre all basically the same.
You can option transmission & colours & thats about it. BMW made the M2 then replaced it with the M2C then just released the M2CS. None are stripped out in any way (unfortunately), all are similarly equipped with the M2C & M2CS getting the S55 over the N55 in the M2. They're all too heavy thats for sure & the M3/4 is even worse. I think the big difference is the buyer demographic, buyers of previous M3s are now buying the M2 as it's the current BMW 'drivers car'. The new M3 is pretty much equivalent to the old M5 thus it appeals to a different buyer. As for the Porsche argument well they all shit all over BMW products which is what we own so does it really matter. But keep an eye out for the GT4RS as it will be the Porsche to have for true driving enthusiasts.
