It wasn't love at first sight from the front for me. It did, however, grow on me over time and the color can make all the difference. Love the evolution of the interior and would take that over my F80 or my G42 (previous cars).

Anyways, hope they continue to sell well b/c it'll help the future of the M car lineup.

EDIT: Was going to chime in and say that it'd be nice to see a stock v stock run, and a mod v mod run down the line. Maybe Throttle House will get their act together.

Sadly no. And I've taken many trips to check it out in different colors. I really want to get one. Especially now that it has awd as I drive mine in the winters.

To be perfectly honest, once or twice I'd catch it from the side, at the front, at a weird angle where I'd be like, "the fuck?" But, a drop, 20s squared, and front lip fixed that for me.

Can't force love, my friend. She's just not the one.

G8X is ugly in most configurations imo… but seems to be a pretty good performer. I do remember seeing a video of track preference being for the F82 over the G.. on this track at least lap times were almost identical.

As far as M3/M4 going for below MSRP before Covid. Yeah, maybe the F82, F80 was out of production by then.

Dude, who cares about Porsche? What does Porsche have to do with anything? I shouldn't have to explain how that's irrelevant here.

Audi? Please stop. Dealers were marking up Tellurides well before covid. That doesn't mean shit.
Not a random dude comment. Outside of people on this part of bimmerpost everyone has generally disliked the grill. Hard to think of another car being called ugly this many times on a track test 3 years into production? In last 20 years?
Overwhelming majority of reviews have called the front end design prohibitive in making them like the car while most have appreciated the engineering.

The example of mark ups is exactly what I was saying, the accessibility to 911 and F gen was not as widely different, G series is much more available compared to 911 on the other hand, not what a company aspires for.
Also who cares about Porsche (911), no one should on this forum, it is a more expensive, less practical and better car dynamically, and hence not usually directly competing and also not available as 4-door, but we all got to use references.

If this was a shit car otherwise say from lexus for instance or was dynamically worse than last gen, or wasn’t the last gen of gas powered cars, I don’t think as many people will be fixated on the grill. The problem is the when u redesign an icon u better not f*** up for your 2 moments of fame, I know the engineering team didn’t
I would still buy this car DESPITE the grill, so no knock on guys who did or plan to do

Please watch ANY YouTube video from a major automotive reviewer. Overwhelming majority has called the front end design prohibitive in making them like the car while most have appreciated the engineering.

It reeks of mobb mentality to me, maybe it is, maybe it's not. I don't know. But, what I do know is that controversy sells and clicks are clicks.

Don't quote me on this but I think I've seen somewhere on here that the G8X has already outsold the F8X and it's only midway through its life cycle. Seems like they pulled in a lot of new customers if the BMW enthusiast is having that adverse of an reaction to the car. Availability, I suppose, depends on the market. My dealer couldn't get me an allocation until recently, I think they are still hard to find (yes, I could have found one if I really wanted to but that's a different conversation). Many here, and on FB, have paid ADMs, pre, during, and post Covid.

The design team definitely swung for the fences, where the ball lands depends on the consumer.

Why wouldn't you want your product to be readily available to the consumer in this instance? They don't need to manufacture artificial demand, they can barely satisfy the demand they have. It's not like there is a ton of unsold G8Xs sitting on lots with heavy discounts, at least not that I've seen.

But maybe If the the front end was more subtle it would attract more 3 series and 5 series owners and sales would be higher ?

Probably, but I don't think they care where the money comes from as long as it's rolling in.

I would pay extra to not have a hood line seam - looks so low-rent on both cars.

Sold my ‘17 Comp and rented a M3C xDrive for a week to see if I should order one.

Handling, steering and corner grip were much, much better, than in my F80. xDrive obviously solved the F80’s penchant for wheel spin.

The auto sucked hard - my F80’s tuned DCT was 100% better. F80s exhaust sounded throatier too.

Went ahead and ordered one w/ the manual; that’s how much I despised the auto.

He and most F80 F82 really want one but can't afford it. so, they used the ugly front grille as excuse of not having one.

You’re annoying. Did anyone ever tell you that 😆

No I would not opt to drive a G8x in any configuration… I truly just don’t like the way that car looks. Everyone has a right to their opinion.
