Performance aside automotive manufacturers are going to be reeling from their big push into EV’s as 95% of people do not want them.

Depreciation is awful and from my perspective lithium ion batteries are going to be a dead technology in the next ~5 years when solid state batteries become production ready.

VAG is already talking about layoffs and other cost cutting measures to offset their EV investment losses and overestimated consumer demand for EVs.

We are also likely going to have some changes in government (at least in NA) so there are going to be changes to EV incentives and other policies that aren’t going to be EV friendly either.

From a performance driving perspective I can take my M4 Comp X-Drive to the track and literally do sessions all day. You can’t do that with EV’s and many tracks are actually banning EVs from lapping due to lithium ion battery fire risk. (Firefighting equipment for EV fires is very expensive, very damaging to track surfaces/facilities and many insurance carriers for tracks don’t want EVs there either)

The plaid with CCBs is a really cool fast car (until it overheats on track) but it’s an outlier and still has its challenges.

This is a good point, yesterday thousands of dealerships publicly pushed back on EVs because inventory is piling up even with huge discounts (in some cases almost $23K) and even that can't entice most consumers. Thought that was an interesting ground level perspective.
