I used the USB C connection in the glove box. The Belkin Pro 15W came with the “lighter” plug and a USB C that can go into it so there are two options. I would have preferred your setup with an additional cable purchased from Amazon run to the back seat. It’s definitely the best setup I’ve found so far. This plus the Magbak case works great.

I know this sounds crazy, but I don't have a USB connection, or any other connection in my glovebox. I've got a '24 G83. Through this thread, I learned that G80s have a USB at the rear of the center console. I don't have that either. Weird.

Fwiw, you could get a USB extension cable, and run the cable to one of the center console USBs.

That’s so weird. I have a 23’ G80cx and yup I have both a connection in the glove box and two in the backseat. Wonder why that is? I thought about one of those extensions. Thanks

I’m not a fan of hanging wires. You may want to look at running the cable behind your dash trim under the cupholder. You can use an Amazon 12 V to 5v adapter like I did.

The only bit of cable I have exposed is shown below. I've run the cable to the front of the center console and then rearward, tucked underneath the center console. It comes up alongside the passenger seat backrest and into the center box, plugged into the USB port there. Does your way have less wire exposed? Pic?

I like it because it's plug & play, inexpensive, relatively clean looking, not in front of the vents, and the vent air flow adjusters are accessible. It does rattle a bit but no more than my uniden R7 on the blendmount. I don't care about charging. I keep the cord in the center console and pull it out/connect in the off chance it's needed. Finally, I also didn't want to add a magnet to my phone just so that I can use it with a mount in my car.

ProClip might be the best, but 1) they didn't have their current version when I was shopping and 2) it appears to cover the passenger's left side torso air vent.
So I bought this mount and kind of forgot about it. It's actually kind of genius. Clips in, doesn't move, and doesn't block controls. My plan is to ditch the phone holder it came with and either use the Belkin magnetic one or Magbak.

this might be super late, but is this the right way of doing it? made a small diagram.

from fusebox, to a fuse splitter, to a dc converter, to multi port.

thank you!

The only time that it may damge the dash is when you have to remove it to stick the holder. It use doble side tape. A total of 15min and 5 min was watching the install video.
I love it. Easy install and not in your face like other ones I have seen.

I did not use the dc to dc converter in either of my installs. (‘22 G82 / ‘23 G01)

other than that looks good.

Just using the little Magbak strip stuck onto the vent trim for the cleanest look. Also have a dedicated device running JBV1 w/waze crowdsourced data and a digital key to start the car that stays permanently in the little cubby area below.

For Dragy style videos I need landscape orientation with the phone sideways and a clear front view, while also keeping the driver POV centered well. My i14+ phone uses a Speck grip case with ridges, so magnets are out. Am I doomed to a suction cup clamp-style mount? What do you all suggest? I can’t have stuff falling off the windshield into my lap or underfoot during a dragstrip run…

yeah i just put the suction mount up for that and then remove it afterwards, it's too ugly to keep it up there all the time. this is the one i use https://www.amazon.com/dp/B091GQLTWC and it holds extremely tight, there is zero chance whatsoever of it coming off unintentionally.

So wait, you keep a digital key card in the cubby all the time? Or are you talking about that phone being the digital key...

The phone has the digital key and requires being unlocked to start the car.
