M3 CS Coding Changes DIY

Looking at the popular CS coding that is going around, there are actually very few changes so thought i would post them here for those that are inclined to do themselves. This was generated from US-Spec m3 comp xdrive (Type Code 43AY) > US-spec M3 CS (Type Code 63AY)

Steering - 3 params

VehicleVariantStF2Value: STF_170 (00,AA) -> STF_186 (00,BA)
VehicleVariantStF3Value: STF_169 (00,A9) -> STF_185 (00,B9)

DSC/MDM - 4 params

[39] DSC_VIP_IB4 00003D14_010_001_003

QdmDiffAllrad: Nr011_G080 (0B) -> wert_1A (1A)
QdmDiffReglerHA: Nr020_G080_AWD (14) -> wert_29 (29)

Transmission - the CS transmission is a flash, you need eSys and full PSDZdata and you can flash it. i guess if you already know how to do that, you don't need this info

Suspension - Not sure about this one, the CS has different dampers and springs, there is no reason to expect that using the CS-specific suspension tuning would be an improvement on the comp hardware. Feedback i have heard is running the CS suspension coding on the comp hardware makes the suspension softer.

This is all the changes that i can see. There are no changes in the differential module. Hopefully needless to say, take backups, i'm not responsible for you messing up your car should you try these codings.

Anyone has any other info, please add.

So do you need a separate file in addition to the above to flash the transmission?

<-- Knows zero about coding.

Yes. Two things… the eSys software and then the pack for it that has the flashes for the modules/ECUs in question.

Bimmercode is unable to access any of the modules you need. You could do it with bimmerutlity on IOS or protool on android in addition to Esys.

Thanks. I’ll download and it give it a try. Assuming I can use an OBDII adapter to do this ?

Thanks for all the info!

Mostly curious for this analysis on the M4cs when it comes out to see if they did anything different from the M3cs.

there are hundreds of differences between the standard M3 and the M4 just due to the platform change, so i am sure it's going to be same comparing the CS models. I think it will be very difficult to determine if there is any actual effective differences in the cs-specific tuning with this method as the model designations configured in the settings will be different but what is actually contained in those changes can't be known.

Did the change, had to manually program the hex values the last step there. I’d say it’s 10-15 percent better, it’s nothing crazy but theres a minor difference that makes it feel more hydraulic. Didn’t notice much difference in road feedback though.
