Just tackled this project along with my grille yesterday and today (broke em up into two days cuz I had to work lol)

Yes, whole bumper needs to come off. In reality, the biggest pain in the butt is the fender/bumper bolts (there's two of em on each side) that are so awkward to get to... Not only that, you have the fender liner that you gotta pry out so you can fit your socket wrench in to get those two bolts out. Everything else is a cake walk. I did the job by myself and didn't even bother jacking up the car. It's a pretty straightforward install, just annoying because of those bolts...

I purchased a set of gloss black intakes from AliExpress, arrived in about a week and the quality looks excellent. AU$151 delivered.

Having them installed at the same time as a CS grill in a weeks time, will report on fitment then.

Has anyone considered having their intakes painted to match the car's body?

I'm considering it, but I feel like it could look anywhere from awesome to ridiculous. (I'm also finding that I don't really dislike the honeycomb.)

Yeah - I am curious to know how those fit! I would probably pick up a set of those because they're super reasonable and come already in gloss black. I await your findings.

$300 for the carbon vents
$150 to paint
$200 install
Wut Wait
$200 to remove the entire front bumper?
I must be paying the BMW-tax...

Terrible photos and the car is filthy, but gives you an early idea how the AliExpress gloss black intakes look.

Fitment is great! Installer was very pleased with them. Got a CS grill installed at the same time.

Will get much better photos when I have the chance.

(Note I’ll be ditching the “CSL” badge. No thanks!).

in order to install any grille, inlet or even a lot of lip, you need to remove the bumper.

A little hard to see with lighting. Definitely recommend NWCarbon Haus.

Got my Ali Express gloss black ones installed yesterday. Will take more pictures after I have had a chance to wash the car. Figment is great and they look absolutely awesome. So much better than the honeycomb, IMO.

Does looks good, so you had someone do them for you? I'm stuck in a do loop of "these are so cheap I should just do it" and "If I'm going to take the bumper off I'm going to do the grill too" and not really being sure what grill I want. I like the Gloss Black look on IOMG and there's a lot less selection for that than CF.

Yes I had someone do it as I also had the Turner skid plate and iSweep pads installed at the same time. As well as spacers.

I'm in the "could do it but then wife would see me modding the car" operational mode.
