BMW Active Sound / Engine Sound Volume - Noticing reduction

Dear friends, I have '22 G82 6MT and I have noticed that the normal volume associated with the active sound has gotten lower recently for both my M1 and M2 settings. I have no idea why but it certainly seems to be the case in the last few weeks. Anyone else experiencing this or have advice on how to check the settings or what this could be (software update maybe?)? I did a search but came up with very little on the subject.

Thanks in advance

Have you tried pressing the variable sound button on the center console to the left of the gear shifter? I believe it should be illuminated for louder sound.

They skimped on the light for the 6MT cars. No light for us. Which is a weird skimp.

Strange, I had no idea the automatics had this.

Question: does the button actually close the valve AND kill the active sound? My neighbors want to know.

I haven’t heard any difference on mine but I do notice sometimes when I go into sport plus the sound stays in comfort. I’d have to switch it back to comfort and back to sport plus to fix it.

What sound control settings do you have for M1 and M2? Maybe that changed. Was it on, now it’s off? That’s the first thing I would check.

As far as a software update. Have you brought the car to the dealer recently? If not, the car does not automatically update itself, you have to initiate an update.

My 6mt exhaust valves are not opening as much now that’s it’s cold out. Put a midpipe on a few weeks ago and it’s easy to notice.

I also have ASD disabled.

M1 and M2 settings are the same, I checked. Have not been to the dealer yet, first service is next month.

Interesting, although I am in FL, it has gotten colder than normal and that is right around the same time I noticed less volume.

Is this weird that my 2018 X3 M40i has a better sound when it starts than my M3 despite me turning off the ASD. Its really disappointing !!! Dont know if keeping the valve open all the time will make it sound much better.
