Featured on BIMMERPOST.com Just a random encounter with a 720s So I'm slow rolling through nyc near Bronx near Fordham. 87 south as you approach ramp to go to GWB. (For my tri-state people) There is a yellow 720s in front of me. I've gotta merge over and driver was texting. I'm sure he saw me in his Peripheral Vision. Well he's ignoring me as I look for the okay to merge. Anyway I get in with plenty of room and time. We are slow rolling so it was not dramatic. Now he's not texting and starts to sorta buzz through traffic. Moderate but you can see the effort to try and separate. My wife's in the car aka the governor. Max rpm 4,000 rpm max speed 100. Both I can only roll into not hammer. Now we get on Jersey turnpike and I roll by him about 90 approaching my max speed of 100 mph. He down shifts and takes off. Made me feel proud. I felt like I was in something special and for whatever reason he felt like he had something to prove. Hats off to M3 it must look the business on the road! |

The 720S, is a 5.3 60-130, versus a 9.8 in the G8X. It's definitely a no brainer. We dont even have a chance against the 570S, which is also in the mid 6.Xs

My only time seeing a 720s really get on it was on the Garden State Parkway while I was in my old Charger Scat Pack. We weren’t racing but he felt the need to take off while we were both cruising around 75mph.
The way he disappeared was pretty eye opening. I knew the cars were fast but seeing it in person was pretty astonishing. The way it accelerated from a roll reminded me more of a super bike than a car. So I became curious to see what it’d take to beat one from a roll. Apparently these things trap close to 150mph stock, and just as impressive from 60-130+. I think the only car I’ve seen actually win against one was a heavily modified GT-R putting down over 1,000whp - and even then it wasn’t it like he walked him. Truly impressive for a production car. Not to mention, the 720s is 3,250 pounds. Over 700 pounds lighter than a G8X xDrive.

Unless he was racing me in his mind This was the only forum I thought to post a versus I was trying to admire the 720s Then he took off Ahhhh I said approaching max speed; I was being facetious. My max speed is 100 mph with the wife and I was doing a day trip to get close to 1200 mile first service Went to Philly for lunch then ice cream Bunch of race bikes flew by Then I saw them in Philly on south street |

Our local 720S owner is a very nice guy, family friend for decades. I worked for him starting age 9 cleaning used cars. You'd never know he was a bajillionaire with no ego. Today he lovingly joked that my new M4 was "cute....I bought one for my housecleaner's kid so she could get a ride home when I kept her late making me milkshakes."
Of course he was completely joking and gave me an elbow to the ribs AFTER I bought him lunch at Freddy's Ice Cream Parlor. Guy loves cars and dairy products. |

After reading OP I googled 720S cost. Okay, that ain't happening.
How about a Turbo S. Again, nope. Already knew Plaid cost, totally doable, but reminded myself "you didn't buy one to begin with, go drive your M4, and don't even hold your breath for the Z06." My allocation is so far back I bet an EV Cayman will be in garage first. Back to OP: that 720S is baaaaaad at any rpm and speed. |

Brooks from Dragtimes said his 720s only lost about 4 races in 2 years of ownership and all we're cars with 1000-1100whp. Pretty nuts!

For everyone's viewing pleasure. Car is astonishing in every regard. I thought the 600LT was fast (and it is) but words can't describe this vehicle. And just imagine the 765LT walks this thing.. |

I have said this over and over and over but I have a Plaid for no other reason than the novelty of speed and its definitely that. I dont really seek out cars or target anything. Why- cause its a lame ploy with a 1000hp car. But if someone comes at me, I say bye bye. But again, It would never be my only car or even my 2nd car; I must have ICE. As for the car itself, the fit and finish has been great. Reliability has been great and the exhaust sucks LOLOLOL. The brakes are way too weak for a car like this but only idiots push a 5k lbs car and test the brakes when it has 1000hp and tq. Come on!! The laws of physics dictate and I definitely have learned the car, the brakes, the chassis, and the limits on normal roads so to not put myself in the douche bag.
