Which is why I intend on having a friend that's a mobile detailer do the cleaning

Can anyone absolutely confirm that a stock rear rim (20x10.5 ET20) does indeed fit on the front without a spacer?

There are links to the Evolve thread and people have spoken about it, but no one has confirmed that no spacer is required.

I've seen how little clearance there is with the stock 9.5 inch rim, so really surprised to hear an extra 12.5mm less clearance (with a 10.5 inch rim) manages to avoid clashing the strut.

You can run different widths on AWD as long as you keep the diameter the same.

Yes I know this and the discussion really wasn’t so much focused around that as it was whether or not the wheel well in the front can handle such a wide tire and the wheel you would need to put a 285 on it. The conclusion is, at least from every BMW specialty shop I’ve spoken to as well as a couple people here that you will have considerable rubbing when driving spiritedly with a tire that wide in the front. I personally am not going to take the risk when ordering thousands of dollars worth of custom wheels and tires that cannot be returned. I have made up my mind what I’m going to go with as far as sizes.

Front
20X9.5 ET5 with 275/30ZR20
Back
20X10.5 ET8 with 285/30ZR20

This will cause zero issues even after the car is lowered. There’s no engineering dynamic reason to go wider than what the factory provided other than it might make an individual feel better about him or herself. A wider tire does not have better handling, traction or stability benefits. It won’t even have better aesthetics because you can’t tell how wide the front tires are unless you look at it from a particular angle and 10mm is just not going to make that big difference to the eye. So in the end it’s just not worth taking the risk of having mechanical challenges like rubbing all so I can say I went wider. That’s my conclusion after in my opinion, spending entirely too much time researching all this crap. Lol. It has been exhausting simply because there really is not a lot of knowledge on this either here or even at wheel shops. Somewhere there’s a thread were some shop in Korea put 295’s on the front lol.

So glad to be reading this. I have a practically brand new set of 20x9.5 wheels (square winter set up from my departed '21 M5 Comp) mounted on 275×30-ZR20 Michelin A/S+ and was just fitting the fronts today to check clearance. Did the measurements, etc. 30 aspect ratio helps a lot. It's close but looks like enough room so might be able to still use them. Will have to take them for a test drive to see...

I'd looks about as close as my 19/20 setup with 10/12mm spacers.

I think you and I are probably on the same page regarding a lot of research. I ended up pulling the trigger on some HRE FF28's in 20 x 9.5" ET08 / 20 x 10.5" ET10 and feeling confident it's going to give me the size I want on a 275/285 without too much drama or cutting or issues with driving the car on a daily basis for just a bit of extra drama to the wheel well.

I have:

Front: 20X9.5 ET10 with 285/30/20
Rear: 20X10.5 ET10 with 295/30/20

I've noticed while reversing, if I turn the wheel a certain degree I'll get some rubbing. That's the only situation where I get rubbing (that I've noticed so far), so trying to see if it's a big issue that'll require some modification of the fender or not.

I'm running with Titan 7 T-S5s 5-Spoke Euro Exotic (20 x 20 setup) with 275/30 (f) and 295/30 (r). Installed the wheels a couple of weeks ago and just installed a KW HAS kit on Monday of this week, experienced ZERO rubbing issues since putting the 20 x 20 setup on the car.

Some people with after market rims want a snow setup so I’m sure a lot people will give you their stock rears for your fronts

I’m going to be running a square setup 20 10.5 M826 wheels all four corners with 285X30X20s. I have 12mm Spacer in rear and 12mm in front. I will post photos and details regarding any issues on the front wheels. Note my car is also lower in HAS kit. I’ve now for a fact the OEM 20 10.5 do rub without any spacers on the brake ducts at full lock when turning the wheels. That is the reason I will see if the 12mm spacer will solve that issue 🙂.
At the moment my wheels are getting powder coated so i should have an update by next week

My car is RWD Manual.

I am. 20’a all around offset is I believe +12 on the front and +14 on the rear. Lowered on KW. No spacers needed. No rubbing.
