I appreciate that. I know zero knowledge about this stuff. And just listening to the wheel store manager, even know he’s excited and nice I just know there’s way more knowledge on this forum then he has. At least when it comes to these cars.

I thought some of you guys might not like the half inch difference between the front and back wheels. This was recommended by the wheel manufacturer.

The wheel store manager suggested 305‘s on the back with 11 inch wheels.

Do you know what size tires Michelin makes BMW stars in? I guess my question is there a master list?

Well technically the 0.5" difference of the wheels is right for the tire width difference of ~10mm. But since the 275 is a bit smaller in diameter, you can counteract this by using a narrower wheel, so the tire get squeezed a bit more and is therefore a bit bigger in overall circumfence. Thats what BMW did with the 275 on a 9.5" wheel.
But thats just a minor tweak and really not necessary.

As for the * rated tires, these are specifically engineered by BMW and Michelin and there is no "list". For the M3/4 there are only the stock 275/35 19" and 285/30 20" tires either PS4s* or Pirelli Pzero4* or, if you want to have more grip, go for the Cup2* or Pzero4 Corsa*.

You can go with 305 in the back, but with xdrive you have to adjust your front tire aswell. The wider tire gives you no real bonus because, well, you have xdrive. So id go with what you are planningn now.

Awesome advice. Thanks!! So is there a BMW * 275/30ZR20 ? Obviously there is a 19 because I have it now but I was wondering if they made it with a 20 inch tire 275?

No, there is not. There would be the 275/35 20" from the M5 comp, but thats not an option for obvious reasons.
If * is a must, then you have to go with 285/30 20" square.

No, not in the front. The 10,5j wheel will fill the arch pretty good. For the rear, i will go for 12mm spacers.

I'd love to pick your brain on running square 10.5s...

I'm trying to finalize my spec for a set of Forgelines for summer use. The roads near me are very bad, so I'm actually thinking of running square 19s with 285/35/19s all around. I'd like to do a 19x10.5 wheel, but I'm not seeing how the math of the additional width, increased tire width, and new offset would work...

At the same offset, adding an inch to the oem 9.5 adds a half inch of wheel on the inside. So to get the inner wheel clearance back to stock (which is already pretty tight, although not terrible), need to reduce offset from 20mm to about 8mm, right?

Then, this would have already added a half inch on the outside (from the additional inch of the wheel), plus we'd be moving the wheel out another half inch (from the offset change to 8mm, to get the inner clearance back) - so that's the equivalent of a 25mm spacer in terms of the outer clearance. Not taking into account the additional 10mm of rubber width (although on a 10.5, a 285 probably wouldn't bulge like the oem PZeros do, do maybe from a sidewall perspective, the difference is only a mm or two on the outside).

What am I missing? How are people clearing 10.5s up front? Thanks!

Your assumption is right, but you are missing that you dont need to clear that much. As already mentioned, the rear wheel with 10.5x 20" ET20 does fit the front wheel arch and clears the suspension.
So you really just have the additional width of the wheel.

If you want a proper fit, then id suggest to go with an offset of 15-20mm for a 10,5" wheel. I myself chose 10.5 x20" ET15 all around, with 12mm spacers for the rear.

Curious, why not just spec the rear with with 12mm added to whatever offset you choose so you dont have to run the spacer?

Not sure about Erebor, but for me, my goal is to be able to rotate. If you pulled the 12mm offset out of the rear 20x10.5 et 15 wheels to make a positive 3 offset, there’s no way that would fit up front.

Custom forged wheels have an offset limit. For the ones i picked, the limit is ET10, so id need spacers anyway. Thats why I went with ET15 to be able to square the wheels.

My ANRKY wheels arrived at AutoCouture but won't be mounted until winter is over. 20" all around, I think it's gonna look killer.

Not sure about offsets honestly, I trust ANRKY/HRE know what they're doing in that department, I just told them I want it aggressive. But they're 20x10 fronts and 20x11 rears, will likely go MPS4S 295/30/20 out back and 285/30/20 up front. Might go 305 in the back if there's enough space as more traction is always welcome.

Are you getting an xdrive? If so them wouldn’t 285F and 305B be bad for it? That’s what others are saying. I know zero about this.
