Epic Time at M Performance Driving School Track Day @ Indy Motor Speedway

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Only 9 of us out of a potential 100 per session meant we got tons of extra drive time.

15-20 drag races in M8, X3 M Comp, XM, etc
10 or so laps of timed autocross in M2
10 laps of lead follow around the IMS road course in M4 and M3 comps
1 full on drifting lap with an instructor who blew a tire at the end, lol
3 laps riding shotgun in an M4 GT4, unreal experience.

Best day I’ve had in a long time!

Oh and the lunch was great and instructors were a blast to talk with.

Looks like a great time… how much was the experience if you don’t mind?

Normal price $799 for the half day experience. They were running a BOGO sale which I found out about from another member here. So I split it with a buddy and we both were able to participate for $400 each!

So if i got the “Carbon Package” with my 2024 M2, and it comes with the “M Driver’s Package”; does this mean this experience was already paid for as part of the package?

Thus, when my car shows up, i just pick a date and presumably pay for the flight and hotel?

Or is this “M Driver’s Package” very different? Dealer didn’t seem to know what i was referring to at the time.

Looked like a great time! Unfortunately I don’t have my M3 yet, or I would have been there.

It seems to imply some sort-of track day, but maybe not the same full-blown experience you got.

M Driver's Package is part of the Carbon Package.

You get a 1-Day M Owner's Driving School. You can also use it as a credit towards any other school they offer. You will have to call and book it and get yourself there (Thermal or South Carolina)

Thanks for sharing these pics and looks like you had a great time. I did a similar event with my friends in 2021 and it was super fun. I shared similar pics in the below thread.

Join BMWCCA. Theres a Sept one available through M and National Capitol Chapter for 1/2 price, full day.
I did it last year. Quite a bit of road course learning and track time on the actual historic Brickyard. Good food and the wow factor of Indy. Plenty of time til 8am to 4pm. Kissed the bricks.
About 3 dozen guys and gals took part. Its fantastic. One great perk of the great M chapter is the discount and other members.

I'm super jealous. I did this last summer, but couldn't make the time work this year. Was my first time, and I had an absolute blast. Would love to do it again now that I have some "experience".

In case anyone cares, here's my write-up/pictures from last year:

My buddy and I did the half-day at Indy yesterday and had a blast. Everything we did was abbreviated from the full day and we had a decent group (15 in mine, I think 12 was ideal).

The only mark on the day for me was that my lead/follow on the 2.5 mile track had a 19 year old driver that was a really nice kid. He didn't want to drive but we convinced him that he needed to, and he did. I'm super glad, but it did mean that we went a little slower. When he was ahead of me it was difficult, and when I was in front he fell back. We still hit 130's on the straight.

What a fantastic time though. It was my first go at something like this and I can see that it's a little like golf with incremental improvement. I was too timid when I did the BMW electric event autocross, so this time I was sideways in the M2 in turns. It was a lot of fun, but not great for times.

It's in my blood, so I booked a full day of M school that I'll attend in SC. The main thing that I learned yesterday is that I need to become comfortable and RELAX to the degree that's possible.

Those GT4 cars are amazing! I recently drove a Mclaren 570S GT4 at SpeedVegas. Turn-in was so sharp and weight transfer pretty much instantaneous. The brakes were out of this world compared to any road cars I’ve driven. Made the 718 GT4 I drove earlier feel a bit dull.
