X3M Comp to M4 Comp

Hi all, coming over to the G8X sub-forums now... traded out of our 2020 X3M Competition to a new 23 M4 Comp X-Drive. Picked it up Wednesday night. Short 1st impressions, its a crazy nice car. We had an G80 on order for just over 9 months, and was still a few months out on our allocation... Had originally told myself I didn't like the G82's. I took my wife into the dealership to show her the new M2 they had, and saw this car. There were a couple of people looking at it besides us, so FOMO set in fairly quickly.

I called my sales guy over and asked him why he didn't call us to let us know this car was there? He simply said, you wanted an M3 not an M4. Once we really decided to do the deal, I got apprehensive based on my love of our X3, but that quickly faded once I drove this car. Haven't had too much seat time yet, weather has been shitty here, but will update impressions as I familiarize myself with the car more. Pics to soon follow for those that are interested in seeing it. Tanzanite Blue, Fiona red interior. Carbon roof, and double spoke bi-color wheels. Oh, and was also excited to it came with PS4S's too, that was a huge bonus.

Contis are not great, but also not available on the G8X.

Tanz over Fiona is a great combo, just wait till after you hit break-in and can really get on it.

Yeah, I know... was referencing the Conti's that came on our X3 when we purchased it. Was pleasantly surprised this car came with the Michelins regardless. It'll be a fun car, especially after break in so I can drive it like its meant to be driven.

Contis can show up on the standard M3/M4 with the 18/19" wheels

Good, let the manual transmission guys deal with that crap. I had Contis on my F82 and they were garbage.

I feel like the problem with them are they heat cycle out waaaaaay too quickly! Within a year, they're as hard as a brick, and slick as hell.

Traction, or rather, lack of it, was my main issue with them on my F82 as well.

Make sure they take off that "Sewell" badge from the rear as well. You don't want that residue messing up the paint at a later date when you go to remove it.

Friends don't let friends say yes to dealership badges.

Thank you. That and the X-Drive was the first thing I removed.

Excellent ride and welcome to the club! I’ve always had a soft spot for tanzanite and it looks great over Fiona! I think you made the right choice here. I went through similar feelings of really not wanting an M4 due to the styling, but now after seeing everyone’s builds here it’s complete been a 180 for me. If I didn’t need 4 doors I would be looking to get into a G82 as soon as I could. Congratulations on the sweet new ride!

Gross that they did that to an M car.

Beautiful. Congrats! My M4 Comp xDrive just hit the production phase and I can’t wait. Some lowering springs and spacers would complete the look.

As I said earlier in another post, at least they didn't install a front plate mount on it... I can deal with removing emblems but fixing holes in a bumper is a nauseating thought.

Man, you're gonna love it!!! Such a well sorted bad ass car. I'm super impressed with how linear the torque curve feels compared to the X3M Comp we came from. That was on/off with torque and this car is smooth as silk. I also agree about springs, and spacers too... we'll add some aftermarket wheels to it in the not too distant future.

So far I don't... This is everything I had hoped it'd be. I really think I'm going to love this car.
