Hi everyone,

I have enabled cross traffic alert on my G82 Base, but don't see anything happening on the screen when I reverse out. I have the Parking Package so when I engages reverse, the split 360 / rear cameras turn on, but I don't see the red coloring nor hear anything. Any ideas?

I have the same problem. I don’t have the parking assistance package. No alert/red coloring or it didn’t show until the coming car was almost in my rear view.

I have parking assistance and I don't get any warnings!

I have it on both my G20 and G05. Definitely get alerts when backing out and there's an oncoming car, but the threshold with when the alerts begin are pretty narrow. Meaning you won't get an alert if you're not that close to the oncoming car, it only alerts you when you're really close and it's a pretty loud audible beeping along with a flashing red light in the corner of the screen on the side from which the car is approaching.

related (somewhat) sidenote: my neighbors' Subaru and Toyota CTA alerts are so sensitive that the safety nanny chimes go off when I walk out of my garage when they're backing out.

On that note - what's the deal with Tesla not offering some of these alerts and even a 360 birds-eye view camera.. or an HUD? Feel like at this point those are pretty common-place things to offer. I believe for the 360 view camera at least there was some concern because Tesla's ancillary cameras which aid in self-driving are pointed outwards whereas cameras dedicated to 360 view would need to be pointed downwards - but there's gotta be a solution.

It's a very fast economy car with a good battery. In our area AT&T is horrible. Care to guess what my center screen uses for connectivity? AT&T. Constantly spooling, rebooting on its own, songs skip halfway through. Tesla tech said there's nothing we can do about it. No CarPlay, no Android Auto, 2021 was first year with heated steering wheel in the 3, and on and on and on. But it's a seller, that's for sure!
I forget if my 2020 M240i had CTA. I really wanted HUD after being forced to look at the Tesla screen for speedometer, etc.

Similar I have the parking assistance package and cross traffic alert set (G80 M3Cx) and find the warning comes quite late if at all.

Will be curious to hear what your dealer says on this.

Have you confirmed it's enabled in the idrive settings? In idrive 7 it's under Car - Settings - Driver assistance - Parking and Manoeuvring - Cross-traffic alert.

I have found this feature useless as someone mentioned above, warning area is narrow and once it goes off the coming vehicle is practically behind you. My wife’s Volvo has this feature as well and is fantastic. Plenty of warning.

Same story on my end. You need to have other car so close that I see it more like collision alert and all is flashing and is loud, … same as when I try to leave the garage to close to my doors opening.

But, I have all the sensors trimmed down to lowest sensitivity levels (line crossing, collision etc.) except of blind spots.
Maybe there is correlation between all then

I would need to find my patience and turn all system to maximum sensitivity and then see how this feature will behave Will see...

After dealer fixed broken ac last week and updated software my CTA worked for the first time in 11 months. The excitement was short lived. I almost plowed into 2 walkers and their dog while I was backing down my driveway. They were within feet. It's why I backup at .000001 mph.
Adding to others posts, drove in friend's new Volvo. The safety package was incredible (as was their Google os).

Hmm, not sure why that is happening but that feature saved my ass in a tight parking lot recently. Some idiot was going about 20mph through the parking lot and it was only the intense beeping that saved me.

This close call happened very quickly and I may be mistaken, but I almost think the car braked itself.

Great feature to have.

Mine has never activated either. It has saved me on my other non BMW cars alot before though. Amazing feature.
