Is it possible to have the valves closed by default on comfort

Hey I got a g80 m3 and I just got my resonators off. One issue I have is that the g80 doesn’t have a comfort mode. It only has m1/m2. When it’s not in those modes it’s technically in comfort however the valves are still open. Is there a way to have them closed when not in m1/m2? My friend suggested that I make m2 my comfort mode with my valves closed but I don’t want to be clicking m2 every time I get in my car. Any tips?

What makes you think the valves are open? Is it the loud startup? Because that's normal.

The car's valves are closed on startup. Cold Start runs the engine at higher-than-idle RPMs for about 30 seconds. Can't get rid of that unless you run a tune.

You need to hit the settings button next to the shifter and look. There is no "comfort" mode, but your car will default to comfort engine upon startup. Click the exhaust sound button off as well and the valves will be closed.

Trust me, if you don't think they are closed, click the engine to sport plus and do a cold start. You will hear a difference.

Think of M1 and M2 as preset configurations for all the various modes: engine, active sound, steering, brake and, if auto, transmission. That's literally all it does: call up a preset configuration of those. You can control them individually at any time by clicking the setup button and adjusting individual parameters. There is no M1 or M2 "mode" per se. You will notice that if you click either M1 or M2, and then adjust even ONE preset, say active sound, the M1 / M2 light will go out. That's because you're no longer following that preset.

yea theres a major different between the sport modes (M1/M2) but for example when im driving comfort even when the car is warm the valves automatically open. i could click the button and close it but i assume there should be a setting to have it automatically shut closed when its not in m1/m2

I have the Dinan valve controller on my car and it only has a open or close feature. I'm going to switch to SST valve controller for more valve options. I want the ability to be in oem comfort configuration instead of closed because if I am in comfort and decide to do a maneuver and just hit it, I don't want to damage my valve by hitting gas all of a sudden.

First of all, M1/M2 are just presets for your settings in the M menu, by themselves, they don't mean anything. For the valves, that's controlled by the Engine setting, either comfort, sport, or sport+. If your engine is in comfort mode, the valves don't open in any situation. I'm not sure what you're referring to.

Regardless of all of this, the vales are closed on start.

How did you come to that conclusion? Did you physically look into the muffler and notice them open?

I think you are hearing the active sound. Not the valves.

These cars already have big pipes so running with valves closed is not going to hurt anything…even in sport modes. Just don’t go racing.

OP can simply disconnect his valves when the car is off, and try running “full quiet”. I would suggest to have the exhaust button coded off, so no burbles or fake interior sound either.

I was told that having valves closed and stomping on gas may damage valves or something else due to back pressure. I have Dinan valve controller and and only have open or close features so I may switch controller with more options for oem.
