Not surprised the first year. It’s the second and third I’d be worried about.

Is the transmission given the same treatment as the one in the CSL? I would assume so, that transmission software drives so much better then the one that I had in my 22 G80.

Wondering if someone could check there shock label if they are bespoke for the M3CS, CSL shocks or just regular retuned M3 shocks ?

M3/M4 RWD - Same shocks
M3/M4 XDrive - Same shocks (diff than RWD)
M3CS - Their own shocks
M4CSL - Their own shocks

Can look up just about anything on https://www.bmw-etk.info/

You get a RWD car, with usability, less weight, but you also max it to be CSL-ish.

I kind of wish the CSL had come with a manual option, but that’s the next best thing.
For what it’s worth, driving so many cars over the past 2 years, the F90 is really one of their best M cars, period. The car is so capable though, that you need a portable track to take with you. Otherwise it really just feels like what it is, the fastest 5 Series. Nothing wrong with that, just a bit disconnected.

I’m as big a bimmer guy as they come, but I think in the end, the Blackwing is really the most engaging modern sedan, one of the best ever. You’d have to really twist my arm to pick it over an M5 because that Cadillac prejudice is hard to shake but, I loved it when I drove it.

Carhoney quick question. Have you already checked the situation with the front spoiler? It seems is too low and before to get mine I’d like to know if it’s easy to take it off and replace it witb something more usable.

The front/rear weight distribution and cross weight being 50% really bother me. The cross weight was without driver weight on the car?

Its not that bad imo. I lowered my previous s4 and this is on par with it so maybe im used to it. Have to be aware of parking guards for sure tho

The F90 CS takes engagement on any car i've driven to another level. I feel the ZF tune in that car is more engaging and enjoyable to use than the 6 spd in the M2 CS. Thats because it feels authentic for what it is, and has no drawbacks. The clutch in the M2 CS is a huge drawback on the car (its overly light, and requires a CDV removal to get a consistent engagement point, whereas the gearbox in a GT4 is just perfect by comparison).

Somehow, despite being obscenely fast, the M5 CS never requires i drive fast to enjoy the engagement i get through the steering wheel, suspension and throttle and brake inputs (And even from the ZF). Truly impressive, though you trade the comfort of the traditional F90 for it.

I hope BMW has replicated that same recipe in the G80 CS. If they haven't, i think a tuned version of a G80 non-comp sedan will ultimately be the best G80 version. Or get that Caddy.

Nice review. Props to San Rafael BMW to loan out the M4. I went there for a Cars & Coffee, a few weeks ago, and really cool people. They had a raffle, and had heard how far I drove, and gave me a T-Shirt, from the batch they were handing out. Nice ///M T-Shirt.

These things look/sound amazing. I have never been a fan of the front end, but this car pushed me over the edge.

Crazy how some models can do that.

I bought my G80 at BMW of San Rafael and it was a great experience. When I was at Sonoma Raceway running the 1/4 mile on Wednesday the GM of the dealership came up and introduced himself not knowing I bought the car from his dealership, and he was a great guy. His son had a tuned 9 second G80 out there and it was cool talking cars and mods with them. My salesman showed up later with his F90 M5 Comp as well. Another perk with buying an M car from them is they do a yearly Laguna Seca track day where they pay for a track day with instruction at Laguna Seca, including hotel and dinner with drinks. I’m looking forward to that next year.

They definitely seem to be a step above. I only ordered the car at the dealer I ordered from, because I had a connection. Otherwise, I would have been shopping around, and would have likely gone with San Rafael. I do know they treat Jerry really well. He wraps cars. He's always praised them.
