Thanks and she's definitely a bad ass. She'll be 14 in September and has dropped some not so subtle hints of wanting my car at some point. That's a hard no, but can't fault her taste!

Keep well y'all (I hope I've spelt it correctly &#128522

That's way too kind! I keep telling her to start planning our "We're done with this ___" trip and Australia is on our list. While we wouldn't want to impose, I would love to be able to meet you and thank you in person for all of the positive thoughts. I wish I could do that with everyone on this thread. It's hard to convey how much the comments have helped me personally and to know that there's still some good in the world. I'll never be able to thank everyone enough.
It would be my honour my friend, no imposition, nor any obligation - we'd be delighted simply to see you all, happy and healthy.

We look forward to meeting you all this side of the Pacific Ocean, one day soon

Glad to hear she is doing well. I went through a similar thing over 20 years ago, including a bone marrow transplant. One day at a time is how I got through it, and it was unimaginable things would be normal again. I was a single guy with a girlfriend at the time. I've been 100% ever since. My youngest just graduated high school on Saturday.

Yesterday was an awesome day for my awesome daughter! First, she found out that she finished the year with a straight A average. She's gotten straight A's every quarter, except the 3rd quarter this year (she got one B), since 3rd grade. To maintain this level of discipline is a feat by itself let alone having to do it while dealing with all this and transitioning to homebound instruction.

She also found out that she received two awards at school. First, her ELA class nominated her for the Bravery award. Second, we were able to take her to the ceremony yesterday where she received 7th grade Science Student of the Year. I'm so glad that we were able to get her to the school safely so that she could receive this honor in front of all her teachers and classmates.

So very proud

That's awesome, she looks really happy (you may want to re-upload the pic without the name, but it probably doesn't matter too much).

It is extraordinary what one can achieve in the face of adversity, if one's heart is in the right place.

I am truly in awe. May she, one day, be awarded a Nobel prize in physics and make the entire world proud (as well as her family and this BimmerPost community)

Well done, young one

Thank you so very much!! It's been a wonderful day and I'm very thankful that we're able to spend it together.

She had a rough few days a couple of weeks ago, but is now doing great. She had a break from treatment last week due to not making counts (which is completely normal and expected) so we go back to the clinic on Tuesday for labs and a determination on whether we can get started or will have another delay.

Thanks for thinking of us. It's much appreciated.

Wanted to drop by for a quick update. Johanna is doing great with Phase 4 wrapping up next Monday. She's had a nagging headache off-and-on for the last week or so which, while normal for what she's dealing with, is a PITA. She gotten blood and platelets over the last 2 weeks. Next week is an off week for treatment, but we go for labs and potentially blood/platelets depending on the results.

Phase 5 starts 8/2 and lasts for two months so we're looking at tentatively early October to get into the long "Maintenance" phase. She's cleared for starting 8th grade with all of her classmates. She's excited to see them - not excited for school. lol

Thanks again for everyone thinking of her. I definitely know that it's helping.

You definitely have a very strong, smart and courageous girl in Johanna. Glad she was cleared for 8th grade, which will allow her to spend some time with her friends there (that's got to be a good sign of great progress!).

Sending positive thoughts out to your daughter, you and the rest of your family during these challenging times...

Well, it's been an interesting week. On Sunday, Johanna tripped on the very last step of our stairway and twisted her ankle. We went to clinic on Tuesday where her ANC was not quite high enough to start Phase 5. This is completely normal and expected. Her count was close so we fully expect to get started next Tuesday.

During the clinic visit, they decided to x-ray her ankle just to make sure there was nothing funny there. They found a "possible small chip fracture" and sent us to an orthopedist who we saw today. Well, she's now going to be in a boot for 5 months to make sure she heals well and doesn't cause any further damage. On the up side, treatment picks up on Tuesday of next week and then it's off to school for 8th grade on Wednesday.
