I don't disagree, but I would rather see torsional stiffness, engine dynamic behaviour, vehicle dynamics wrt understeer. With all respect for the clip, but we could have also made it in a couple of hours, not?

Love these videos. Since this gen isn’t really a looker, it makes you appreciate the car a little more to understand all the technical aspects.

Yes, unfortunately the season coupled with COVID isn’t ideal for the European reviewers when it comes to wringing one out at the track. The only weather option is Southern Europe and I’m not sure if tracks are open and what travel restrictions are within the EU.
In the US however I see no real issues with it so hopefully very soon. |

We are mainly talking about the standard 275s but there’s even the 285s in the performance range. That’s quite a beastly tire up front compared to historic factory M3 offerings. Even the M4 GTS wear 265s. Last edited by solstice; 01-15-2021 at 08:19 PM.. |

Now I’m curious if the M5CS will have staggered wheels to gain the same advantages.

No matter what size tire, if you're not using Michelin PSS's or Togo Proxes you shouldn't be driving a BMW. I went to Hankook Evo 2's to save a few bucks one time, when I went back to Michelin PSS's it was like I got a suspension upgrade.

I appreciate BMW putting out a video to explain some of the logic behind their choices, but it's a bit generalized. Nothing new offered here that track day guys haven't known for decades. At least BMW is somewhat getting with the program for that class of BMW owners - even though the Cup 2s are still not really track tires.

I believe it's been pretty much confirmed that the M5cs is only getting the 20" 789M wheels already offered as an option on the M5/M5competition albeit in gold colour and shod with PZCorsa tires (at least not in the US for the latter).

You’re right, I remember seeing that. Looks great but surprising they didn’t go for staggered. Maybe something to do with AWD dynamics so mkoesel’s question might have some merits, what do you think?

I wonder if the AWD models get the same tire size.
So they just put the rear tire out of F80 into G8X, cool. Wider tire= More prone to hydroplane. I hope wider tire doesn't mean they sucked the last remaining fun/communication out of EPS. Also, I hope they left some playfulness in the rear as "smaller sidewall in the rear aids stiffness/stability" got me worried.
