50 Jahre M3 - what’s the deal?
I’m in the market for an M3 comp and have noticed a number of 50 Jahre versions sitting at local dealers for a while. Assuming these aren’t particularly sought after given what you get for the markup versus something specc’ed? Anything else to know about these?

For me, it just means spending a few extra bucks on carbon fiber additions to get it to the exterior spec I wanted it at. For the interior, I don't mind making a minor concession of the Kyalami interior for all black. |

It just has unique cosmetic updates with a limited edition badge. For this much money, I would prefer specing it with the individual color of my preference unless you are a big fan of those colors.

I passed on an Interlagos one, because I felt that BMWNA didn't spec them right for a 100K+ car. I didn't want another black interior, and would have preferred Techno. Plus they omitted M Drive Professional which is a must on the xDrive IMHO.
I also agree that paying over MSRP isn't worth it, unless you are drawn to the color especially. I think that if you don't need the car right now these cars will be at MSRP or maybe even slightly discounted in some areas of the country. |

Markup on these are a joke, money grab. If you want a special color go individual and spec as you wish. will save you $

The problem is, you can't order these colors individual until MY '24, which is why I went with Jahre. I had a spec'd Fire Orange individual order completed at my dealership since March of this year. Found out in July from my CA that it wouldn't be approved until June of 2023, which would likely get me the car at the end of 2023 or early 2024. While there's so many fantastic colors on the G8x, to me, nothing hits like the Fire Orange, which is why I wouldn't settle for an option B exterior option. To each their own!

Agree with the color, it is pretty great. In that case when color is the main objective, Jahre is only bet. Still the markup on these by dealers is ridiculous but up to the buyer to make that determination.

people grabbed these cars when M3 allocations were rare to non existent
currently with BMW pumping M3 allocations the rise in interest rates the fact that the Jahre edition is 12 k more than a M3C , with marginal options so people are backing out and dealers are trying to grab any desperate customer these things will be below sticker come jan 23 Last edited by M3PGH; 10-21-2022 at 05:24 PM.. |

I just picked up a non-Jahre '23 M3 Comp X yesterday, it's almost 20k less so I am not too sad about missing out. Still third in line for a M3 base which I will get the individual color. I think its a good decision. And put myself on the M2 list which is already way too long. I am not sure I see the Jahre at below sticker in 3 months (the M3 list at my dealer is still 30 strong). But I do think it will depreciate more and be in line with other M3s in a couple of years. |

these lists are Artificial ...
everyone went on a list in the good all times .Get on the list, get the car and sell it and make money these days are gone M3 is very good value from 75-85 K , above 90 close to 100 , not as much the dealers asking for ADM on the Jahre M3 , in 2-3 months time , will be discounting them just to move them some of these cars are selling , so market is not collapsing but production is up and demand is less .... end result is lower pricing people have short term memory loss four years ago BMW came with M3 and M4 CS they could not move them ...Why ? above 100 for M3/M4 my dealer had 7 M4 CS that could not sell for a long time they gave 25- 30 k on these cars to move them I grabbed an M3CS that 111 K sticker and leased it for 900 dollars a month with zero down.I think sale price was 85 k but people will say now things are different ... I ended up running into a situation where I was able to get the Jahre and very happy with the decision. The car is pretty amazing and do hope there are more people willing to pay over MSRP to keep the value of the car up , but at the end of the day I bought the car to enjoy it everyday I drive it.
I do wish there were some minor things to be included - M drive pro, extended leather. End of the day, am I tracking the car need M Drive pro - no. Extended leather - beautiful touch but I bought the car to drive and noticing the extra leather inside, not as important (traded in a car with extended leather - minor difference). To the original post - if you can get at MSRP or near it, I’d say jump on it and don’t look back. Are you buying it to drive it and enjoy or hope that it will appreciate in value? I tell you I just drove mine for several hours today and am still grinning ear to ear. You won’t be disappointed. |

the car is great , but has nothing to do with Jahre edition. You would have the same experience in M3C x drive. if you keep your cars for 10 years , then paying extra 10 k to get a Jahre is ok but if you keep cars for 2-3 years , this is where you will feel the biggest impact between a Jahre and M3C 97 K ......... in 3 years to 58 k 85 k........... in 3 years to 55-56 k so your cost of ownership is higher . plus the added interest rate cost some people can afford it , but a lot can't , and some people at that price would rather pay a little more and get an M5 which is a better overall car .. it is simple economics |
