No Spare Tire

Hi guys! I'm a previous F80 owner and for you current G80 owners I have a question - what's your plan in case of a flat when doing long drives (500 miles or more), knowing your car doesn't come with a spare. Back when I had my F80 I did a few long drives and just got lucky I didn't get a flat. But my plan in case it happened was to just call BMW Assist and be ready to spend a night somewhere while closest shop to where I got stranded fixed/replaced my tire. Haven't been in the forum for awhile and just wanted to get ideas as I'm looking to get a new G80 to keep long term. Not sure what our options are currently. Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

For now, I'm searching for tire repair kits and a portable air compressor. If the damage is beyond repair (i.e. slash, sidewall puncture), then road side assistance is the back-up plan. Some other thread discussed aftermarket spare tire that peeps were looking into.

There is air pump that car comes with. I have not tried it. Looks pretty flimsy. Lol.

I’ve done quite the amount of long road trips in my G20. 500-600 miles each way. I purchased a standard tire repair kit from Amazon which has a filer, plug and tool kit. This would be my first emergency decision. Second option is either tow truck or slime repair via a portable air compressor / slime repair kit, also purchased through Amazon.

A few of our customers over the years have used these guys for space saver/spares that they toss in the trunk for longer trips vs keeping it on them everyday. They've got a G8x application too.

I had the same worry but have travelled thousands of miles aboard with no issues so far. Fingers crossed.

The plan …
1. I have slime kit plus refill.
2. 12v cigarette lighter tyre pump. Partly to correct pressures but in emergency keep punctured tyre inflated if slow leak rather than catastrophic failure/big puncture
3. Tyre repair kit. Problem with this is access with no jack in the car to remove wheels. It takes a lot of force to use these and on rear tyres there is no access. Fronts might be ok.
4. Call BMW rescue

Tyre availability is a concern and whether you need to replace in pairs on x-drive when you have 3mm worst case on worn tyre and 7-8mm on new.

I just purchased a spare tire 'kit' from this company. Comes with a aluminum mag wheel and tire of the correct size for the vehicle, jack, lug wrenches, spacer and carrying case. The tire is narrow so as not to take up too much space in the trunk.

Thanks for the input guys! I think Matt@Autocouture is the winner for me lol...Full disclosure, I plan on keeping my next (and ONLY) car for good so I'm thinking long term. I've been debating on the G80 manual or the X5 m60 for quite awhile now. They both have their pros and cons as you all know (but that's for another thread lol). The fact that we're headed down the EV road and manuals getting extinct is why the G80 has the edge for me so far!

I purchased "modern spare". Basically it's a donut that comes with a jack. I test fitted it, seems to work. I throw it in the trunk when I'm going to be doing long trips.

I'll throw in my $.02

A good plug kit combined with a quality air pump (I use Viaair) is light weight, doesn't take up much space, and will get you out of 98% of tire-related issues on the road.

Going to disagree with that statement, especially driving on NJ/PA roads...

Will probably do the same...I'm assuming it fits fine in the empty spare trunk space provided? Thanks.
