For those of you in NJ/NY, what did you do with your front license plate? Did you do the tow hook mount? I was looking at this: https://eosplates.com/collections/bm...40152065704085

Or did you use the one from the dealership?

Any thoughts/inputs would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

For me, tow hook mounts look even worse than regular mounts. Throws off the entire look of the front end. I live outside the city. I installed a Sto n show and 99% of the time my plate is in the trunk. But if I park in NYC I pop it on in a few seconds. They give tickets when parked in the city but not outside the city.

Live out on LI and haven't run a front plate for almost 6 years. If you get pulled over you're going to get a ticket, but I've never been bothered otherwise. I keep it on a tow hook mount in the trunk and plan to use the "I just took it off for pictures" excuse if it's ever a problem.

If you don't have a front lip, I'd definitely recommend the sto n sho mount.

They offer it with driver assist and without driver assist. Install is super easy and it can be taken off and put back on within seconds. I would usually put the plate on if the car was parked on the street, but driving around I'd throw it in the trunk.
The mount on the bottom of the bumper is really low profile so you can't even tell it's there and would never bottom out or hit anything.

Had to keep after my dealer to not install the OEM front plate holder prior to delivery. I bought a Carbonio plate holder and it has been sitting on the back floor underneath the passenger seat since. Brought the car in for annual inspection and I put the plate back on at the dealer. The service tech had a big grin on his face when I reattached the plate. He said they would not pass the car without the front plate installed. It came back off after the inspection was done. Call me lucky but I haven't been stopped for not sporting my front plate since delivery last December....

The problem is if you live in NYC and park on the street you can and will get tickets every day because parking enforcement gives them. That adds up quick. Hence the Sto n Sho

True. Is there anywhere else you can park? For that matter I’d come up with my own way of twistie tying it onto the grill and easily removable

Not really. If you park on street or in muni lot you will get a ticket. There’s only so much I am willing to do to avoid putting a plate on. If I had to look for alternative parking every single time that wouldn’t happen. Thankfully the Sto n Sho takes care of that.

I attached mine with 3M double sided tape. The grill will fall off the car before the plate falls off the grill, and no holes drilled.

I use the tow hook to mount my plate, my personalized plate helps the look. I’m old enough to know not to give the Po Po a reason to pull you over. If you don’t do the crime you don’t have to worry about doing the time!! It’s kept me out of jail my whole life amen!!

Of course the plates haven’t arrived yet so once the NY ugly white goes on that may change my mind. Felt the sto n sho somehow maybe too obstructive on the bottom?

X2 but I’ve been running no front plate soo f**k it I’m not ruining a front. There’s more far illegal shit going on out there they shouldn’t be worried about a front plate..

It's a SIN to have front plates lol...I think NY is definitely more strict than Jersey. If you live in NJ just take a chance. I have a 3 strike policy with wifey. If/when I get my "3'rd" no front plates ticket on any of the BMWs I drove that's when I "have to" put on plates. Have leased 3 Bimmers so far and only got ONE, which I gladly paid as my "contribution" to the state lol...fuhgeddaboudit!!!

I installed mine in the trunk on the shownsto mount. I have the shownsto mount on my front lower bumper. Haven't used it yet. I had this on my F80, seemed to work well.
