I was wondering how everyone is doing from the NY/NJ area? My gf actually had her BMW stolen out of red bank about two weeks ago. I'm seeing BMW theft on the rise locally, the police even warn us. If you live local, please lock cars, don't keep keys near them, don't even do the lock while the cars running and you run into the store. It's not safe… I've seen videos locally of ranges being stolen with some scanner device. They take them right from driveway.
Fucking punks don't even know how to steal cars the right way anymore. Nobody chops a column lol. I'm about to order myself an old fashioned Club. They don't know what that is…
Anyway. Stay safe, be vigilant…
My gfs car was taken after being in the store in broad daylight in ten minutes.
Let me edit this since people seem to assume I said SHE left her car running. SHE DID NOT….

It's actually a crime to leave a car running unattended as it's considered inciting a theft.

That being said, the best anti-theft device I have is a 6MT. If you're generally brainless to the point where you need to steal cars, you probably don't know how to drive a manual.

In some cities they will issue tickets because it can waste police resources because of peoples stupidity. It's a violation but I don't think it falls into the category of a crime.

People are leaving their fob's in the car, and thieves are taking them out of driveways. If the car's unlocked without the fob, they'll steal valuables. Lock your car and take the fob with you.

There's been loads of thefts in Westfield, but I know it's all throughout NJ. My wife's friend had a Range stolen out of Colts Neck, a month later it popped up in South Africa.

Why? Not every place isn’t dangerous like where the OP is from and where you are from?

I tend to live in a safe town (bridgewater) but I've been hearing more and more of car thefts recently.

Well I can’t speak for Mexico although the news doesn’t do you any favors but in America there a towns like Mayberry North Carolina (actual name Mount Airy) and then there’s New York. It depends on where you live as to how you feel about whether or not you lock your cars or your house. Humans are not the same everywhere. Well at least crime I mean.

I'm from NY, but I am in NJ a lot. And my gfs car was stolen in Red Bank, NJ, in broad daylight, along with a Porsche and then driven to Newark… so I wouldn't call either of these neighborhoods dangerous, or mine with homes upward of 900k, but that's exactly why they are targets. Thanks for assuming my neighborhood is dangerous though.

I did not assume anything
I wrote the opposite
I would not leave my car running, or keys in the car, or what ever might invite someone to take my car.
Has nothing to do with the neighborhood, and everything to do with the criminal.

Burglary has been on the rise in my area. My neighbors, mainly business owners, are being followed home, and at some point, their homes will be robbed. It's pretty crazy to see this happening.

From what I understand they're able to scan the keys from a distance within the house or wherever, and use it to access the vehicle. I saw on a page I follow today that a brand new Porsche was stolen, tracked, followed and police didn't help much and then they finally got the car back.
I am even Leary of going anywhere lately. I don't even leave my car in my driveway anymore. Even if I'm home 20 min, I go in the garage.
Tbh, I'm scared…

Hope everyone stays safe…
