Both super impressive. M4 CSL looks like it protects 1st gear by launching in 2nd, just cause the torque is so significant (as its likely underrated). In gear acceleration probably feels like nothing else for a RWD car on sticky tires. The 911 is the perfect sports car layout with the engine forcing the rear wheels down for traction.
BMW could have gotten more downforce with a wing, so people can deride it as a marketing exercise. Except, GT3 touring values are highly sought after compared to winged cars because looks are important to buyers. |

Let's drag race two cars that are not designed for that at all lol.
Rather see them going around a track. |

Knew that the CSL would be faster. However, as an overall package and the experience, it would be gt3 > csl. And on the track, I assume it would be GT3 winning lap times.
Having said this, the BMW is one hell of a performance bargain when compared to something like a GT3 (especially given those massive pcar mark ups) |

Now, BMW is having its 2 door sports coupe compared to purpose built sports cars designed for racing (ie Porsche). |

So basically a RWD car with far less power destroys and AWD car with far more power to about 120MPH. Seems like a shitty design to me. Porsche had no issues with not destroying its first gear on the Turbo or GT2RS, Nissan was finally able to figure it out on the GT-R. BMW is 2/2 on shitty design for this platform, both performance and looks.

The M5 CS launches in 1st. So does the M3 xdrive. The rear M3 and M4 launch in 2nd. Maybe if it launched in 1st, it would just shread its rear tires to dust? But if you are buying an M4 CSL to drag race it, probably missing the point of the car, the M3 CS is coming next year. |

Theyre both RWD and the M4 has significantly more torque and significantly more power. Porsche doesn't really underrate their power figures like BMW does: https://www.motor1.com/news/615714/b...ore-power/amp/ Maybe a bit of research before spewing bullshit on a forum.

As far as front-engine RWD cars go, the G80 is one of the very best at actually putting the power down. Much better than F80. Have you driven one? |

Drag racing a CSL and Touring? It should be all about driving dynamics. But this is the only aspect the CSL would likely excel in compared to the superior Touring.
I wish BMW would go back to purely focusing on driving dynamics. |

Neither car was intended for drag racing. But I guess this is inevitable in the carwow era

No universe where I would crossshop these cars. If you want a fast car, by a Camaro or Dodge, otherwise why not buy a Porsche if you can afford one.
The CSL is trash. |

Anyone else notice the window on the GT3 pops away from the body as it's slammed closed?
This rattle and the associated sound of the door closing would bother the heck out of me. Same reason I'm hesitant to order an iX... The front doors close and sound so flimsy (flimsily??). The rear doors shut nice and solidly with a satisfying thunk on the iX tho. |
