Looks great here. Looks a bit tall and chunky in the official photos. It does not look like a $750k car to me.

Still would've preferred a street legal M4 GT3 as the underlying base for this kind of money. MSRP for the GT3 is ~$550k; another $200k for a re-bodied road version would've made sense. I guess BMW M wanted to take the Lambo Reventon/Veneno/Centenario approach.

I wonder what this car looks like without the special livery.

It does feel like BMW provided a blueprint (as well as a few parts hopefully) for anyone that wants to do an M4 CSL manual conversion.

"Tall and chunky" is kinda the original MO of the 3er. I dunno. I think it really works. I am surprised how much it took from the concept and the aero is outrageous. It's a cool car.

Weight of new CSL is in the press release you just have to do your own calculation to get it. It isn't boldly marketed as it isn't anything overly impressive.

Quote:
The power-to-weight ratio of the BMW 3.0 CSL is a mere 2.9 kilograms per hp.

The version of the drive system with M TwinPower Turbo technology, which was further developed exclusively for the BMW 3.0 CSL, mobilises a maximum output of 412 kW/560 hp
New CSL 3.0 weight

2.9 kg * 560 = 1624 lbs or 3,580 lbs
So weigh-wise, it's a F82 with a full tank of gas then?

The F8X generation cars are equal parts legendary and underrated.

**I still like the 3.0 CSL regardless. But it's not like my opinion matters anyway in light of my lack of an invitation from BMW and my lack of access to Scrooge McDuck's vault.

Standard M4 Competition looks way better. This is not anything like concept car. Even the headlights are from regular M4.

I mentioned this in another thread so I won't go out of my way to repeat what I typed there but let me just ask others here.

From a price MSRP perspective (no markup included), would you pay for a car that is 700k+ MSRP with basically a Turbo Inline 6 that is in a lot of BMW M cars? Or would you pay that price for a car that is going to be 700k (or less) with a Porsche GT engine (GT3 or currently bespoke 4.0L Flat Six in the 718s), Lambo V10/V12 or Ferrari engines?

The i3 and i8 also have a carbon fiber tub construction too fyi (to those of you have forgotten).

An engine makes a sports car. S58, while a very good engine, is not close in league to cars at that price point, not even close.

The actual body rear quarter panel is likely not that different to the stock M4, these seem to be simply tacked on body cladding.

Unless I missed something in the press release, I don't believe this has carbon tub. IMO, it is simply a standard M4 body with tacked on composite body cladding.

Surprised it’s a manual but this is not very “M” of a car with the crazy looks and Elon price tag. An M4 CS would be a better 50th anniversary for the M division.

The more I see these new BMW center lock wheels, the more I am motivated to wait for them to become available on the M2 (M2C perhaps?).

Before anyone chimes in, I am very familiar with center lock wheels and am not intimidated by their serviceability at all.

glad they made it, do not want it.

this is the grill the new M3/M4 should have had.

those wheels are awesome.

wish they were making a few hundred of them.

How heavy is it though?? Bmw have REALLY fucked with weight if the m8 conp for example was like 3,900 lbs it'd be a monster! If this new CSL isn't anything less than 3,300 lbs it's too heavy, way too heavy why are they making boats. Like you're making your cars slower. I live the E46 for that at 3,300 lbs they're nice weight!

Looks decent, the grill proportions are definitely better than the G8X, but by no means a $700K+ special car. Looks like a real nice bodykit honestly like some others said.

What really disappoints me is if only 50 variants are being made, why couldn't they have just gone all out and stayed true to the original 3.0 CSL Hommage concept? Now that was a truly stunning car. If the i8 could be so similar to the concept, don't understand why this couldn't. The fact it just reuses a bunch of parts from the G8X parts bin just makes me even more disappointing. Seeing the two compared really shows me how bleak the production model is.

Don't hate it, but disappointed.

It's used the G8x body-in-white, so there are still hard points on the frame they had to adhere to. The concept I think was based on the F8x frame or even the M6 frame at the time.

Looks sort of like it has a cheap body kit. Not a cohesive or clean design imo.

Each of the 50 cars will be numbered 1 - 50. This is the first one produced and will not be for public sale (e.g. 00/50).
