More power after the 1200 mile service?

What are you impressions of the G8x following your 1200 mile service.

It feels to me like the engine is more responsive; more power/torque.

Am I imagining it?

The dyno doesn't lie. Same power before and after.

Is there a dyno mode you have to put the car into? If there was, that could explain it.

My ASD seems louder for sub-3k RPM driving, that's about it that I've noticed.

every time a new model comes out with these rumors

at 1200 miles you get diff oil and engine oil. anything else is placebo.

though I feel the car is runs smoother.

And Shifting 1 to 2 on 6mt is less jumpy. (or it can be my driving).

The thing that changed with the break-in service was entirely me and my feet.

A friend of mine with the G80 competition swears that they do a change to release all of those extra horsepowers that are constrained during the break-in period.

Since I'm taking it easy during break-in, I'll likely not notice any difference, if there is one. Or maybe they only do it for the competition model.

That's the thing. You WILL notice a difference. You're taking it easy now. After the break in period, you'll push it more. It will definitely feel faster, hence the misinformation.

Oil and dif fluid change would cause it to drive smoother, I would think.

Did they miss anything on my 1,200 service?

Not sure what hypoid is? My guess is that is what makes it go faster after the break-in?

83212450384 at quantity of 70? Looks like they use 70 $1 stickers to match the cost of 7L of 0W-30 LL01-fe oil.

Hypoid gear oil is for the differential.

After the service, it goes faster if you also press down harder on the accelerator.

I just had my done and the only thing is done is engine and differential fluid change the Service rep said that the power gain is just a rumer started on the internet and is not true and he owns a G80 so I belive now that is just a rumer, absolutly no power gain in my case and response is the same.

It was a case of confirmation bias, I think. I don't see any reason to think it's more powerful after the first service. But Internet rumors live forever no matter how many times they've debunked so…

Guys for real my friends new M5 CS will cut power when he tries to drift in 2WR mode, ad the boost seems very conservative. It will definitely not do that after the break-in service. Not a myth I experienced it first hand. Or maybe it's a CS thing?

I heard the rumor and was thinking that maybe they would remap the ECU for faster power delivery. Meaning that you would still have 503hp from mile 0, just delivered more gently. But that looks like is not even the case.

On my S1000RR, RPMs were limited during the break-in period. I thought BMW cars would mirror that approach... NOT.

That explains the number of people posting 1/4mi. times and 0-60 so early into the release

It was amusing how the s1000rr allowed 9k max RPM. I hit that on my first trip leaving the driveway. Also max speed was only 122mph with the 9k limit in top gear. It was so painful riding during breakin.

I am here in Germany and I just drop my car off for service. The service advisor says they do the differential fluid and oil change and yes they do go in the ECU and let the car know that the first service has been completed and it does open up additional horsepower. The car he said is probably about 450hp before the service and it opens up the full power once complete.

Haha, I just had my dealer tell me the same thing, I'm sitting in the lobby waiting for the service to be completed. Whatever the truth really is, the car is plenty fast for me, so...whatever.
