I bet a wife and a girlfriend are more difficult to maintain than a F80 and a G80.

If we get one it'll be hers. In a manual. She misses the F80 we had.. mineral gray, cloth seats and 6MT.

My wife says when I'm 60 I can get the CTSV black wing I keep gushing about... I'm 36

M3 is great for all ages. M5 may have appearance of being more age appropriate but regardless of what anyone says.. M3 is more fun/playful.

I have six mile stones + on my bones and when I ordered a DG G82 my SO said what are you doing getting a “wife beater” car (translation: it looks too aggressive especially for a guy my age). However, when I took delivery she changed her tune a bit - now she likes the car. She hasn’t driven it yet (had it for almost 2 months now) but judging how she liked driving my F82 I suspect the she’ll have the same reaction. As a footnote: almost every time she drove the F82 she was getting compliments - mostly from other guys! It may be a few more months before she gets behind the wheel of the G82.

I'll be ordering one soon and my wife told me "about goddamn time you grew some balls and spent some money on a real car".

This is because I've settled for inferior cars the last 3 times thinking it would make me happy and not wanting to spend more than 50k on a car. The m3 has always been a dream car but I was always afraid to spend the money

In our younger years , She had to put up with cars that I've driven daily with with roll cages, fixed back buckets, semi slicks and short differential gearing so I think she'll be pretty happy with this one by comparison!

Her main thing is she doesn't want a car that I'll refuse to drive because it's raining or the roads are salted. I've done that in the past with some special stuff where I just won't drive it unless it's dry but this one is very much a (fast) family car to be driven when needed

My wife actually coming around on the g80. Saw a couple in darker shades that looked awesome. I was looking at picking up an 2017-18 f80 comp 6spd but with prices where they are, might as well spend a little more to go brand new.

Sounds like some of you have interesting relationships.

My wife said the M2C was a hell no - she couldn't look past the interior which felt like a downgrade to her F30 320i - but we should definitely order a new M3 in IOMG and she'll learn how to drive manual.

I picked up my G82 comp on Friday. Took the wife out for a drive yesterday. She absolutely despised my F80 ZCP that I had before this, to the point she didn't want to come in it. She absolutely loves the G82. It has much less road noise and feel (in comfort suspension) than the f80 had. Also, the tech is really classy and it feels like an 80k car on the inside. The F80 was lacking in that department. It's also worth pointing out that I went with the regular seats (had the buckets in my f80), and these seats are way more comfortable when you do all the adjustments they provide. I wouldn't take the buckets even if they were free now.

Exactly. I was originally in the market for a slightly used f80. But now, there No way in hell I'm overpaying for a used bmw. God knows how much I've lost in depreciation on my previous bmws. Not going to give take it on the other end as well hahaha

One could argue less is more. F80 is lighter, smaller, cf drive shaft, DCT etc. Some pay dollar for a smaller and lighter car where you feel something. Imagine the cost you would pay for a lighter weight g80.

I guess one could also argue that this first year g80 will be a $40k car at some point lol. We will eat it from a depreciation perspective but at least it's a newer car. For me personally we have had 3 F series car. 2 F10 5 series and a 435i GC. I am over this interior and want something a bit newer.

That point is probably correct (I know, I'm one of the young ones listed there), but it's worth noting that article is 13 years old.

We've got a G07 M50i for our daily driver. My wife said the other day, "The G80 in Toronto Red would be a great weekend car". She had me at G80. I'm pushing 50.

My wife hates the front end and wants nothing to do with the buying process. So I told her I hate her Tesla Model Y and want nothing to do with the buying process.
