Tire and wheel insurance warranty

Just getting a feeler, about how many of you guys got it? Live in NJ, roads are sketchy.

Im in NJ too have never needed it. My wife had it on her two Lexus' never used it. I work at a dealership in service and have seen some people use it 5 times or more so for them it was worth it. But it all comes down to individual preference

My argument to them everytime, including 2 days ago when I paid for my car is that in 30 years of driving I've never broken a wheel such that it needed replaced. Sure, in my early days of low profile times I had some curb damage, but now I know how to drive with them. And very rarely I might get a nail which is a $50 fix (just did that for my Jeep). So if I haven't needed a new wheel or really a tire in 30 years, it's unlikely that I'm going to need more than 1 (I'm assuming the cost of a wheel and/or tire is in the ballpark of the $800 warranty they offered me) in the next few years to make up for that cost. They never have a counter to that argument.

Now if I had to drive on crappy NY/NJ roads with all of those holes I might give it a little thought, but it's still expensive for the likely return on investment.

Totally worth it. Pays for itself. I had two claims. Go for it. Tires and rims are pricy for the G80/82.

Totally not worth it in my opinion - you're likely better off putting that cash into a "maintenance" account for your car and at least let it earn interest until you need it.

Make sure to read the fine print, too- most wheel and tire policies do not cover curb rash. I learned this the hard way with my 235 a few years ago.

I did destroy a set of wheels when I hit a concrete seam in the road at 40mph (sign had blown over) and it took two months of fighting with the wheel policy company to get them replaced.

Totally worth it. But I only take the wheel protection from the dealer. Finance lady was really pushing me to it, had to tell her multiple time No for tiers. lol. However when I do switch to PS4S, will definitely buy the insurance from discount tire. If the price is reasonable with 3rd party store I would consider from the dealer. Usually I shop for the best price and talk to finance ppl, since my car didn't come with PS4S, I didn't bother. However I do live in a area with lots of construction, my M2C had nails on 3 different times and my wife also had replaced her 4 times in less than 2 year. Paid $540 for wheel protection and she threw in ding protection for free.

Road hazard protection from Discount Tire is totally different than the wheel and tire warranty from a dealership. You make a good point - skip whatever version the dealer is selling you and go with your tire shop's road hazard coverage instead.

Although, discount tire will patch repair punctures for free no matter where you got the tires from.

Absolutely. I actually meant discount tire insurance certificate or something they call it. Totally worth it. If it's repairable they will fix it, otherwise new tier. Saved me several times. This is the first time I went with wheel protection, because wife will driving it time to time. And with parallel parking I don't trust her lol.

Make sure curb rash is specifically called out in the wheel protection policy. Most places consider it cosmetic not structural and won't cover the wheel.

People are generally over-insured. Life is full of risk. I guarantee you're paying more to eliminate it then the probability of something happening to you.

side question, do the 826m have winter tires? I was planning on getting a wheel and tire coverage that should cover replacement tires as long as Replacement tires meet vehicle manufacturer’s specifications. Basically wondering if the 826m have winter tires and if those tires would be covered by wheel and tire insurance.
